Floral Diplomacy: At the White House

This book is superbly written and thought through. I've read this book several times now and I keep learning new ways to think about color, form,texture, and design integration with surrounding colors and architectural elements to create something of beauty. From the private residence to state dinners, this book shows, in great detail, how to think about flower settings which are beautiful but also underscore statecraft and policy.There are many pictures which illustrate the design principles underscored in this book. I found these to be most useful in guiding how one might think about floral design. All in all,an excellent book which presents a very important aspect of Floral Design and does so in away which is well written and illustrated.I am very glad to have purchased it.

Ugh! Did not like the book nearly as much as others, I see. I found it a missed opportunity. Photos did not track with narrative. Project descriptions had no photos in many cases. I found it a frustrating read and one I was most anxious to finish only because I paid top dollar for the book. Will not keep on my shelf, as I had intended.I have much respect for the individual from my home state and her accomplishments, but that is all.

Beautiful book. A lot of inside information about not just how flowers are used for the various White House functions but how they are politically used as well.

Laura Dowling has superb talent with flowers and a fresh style. It was so interesting to read about her work for the Obama administration and the pictures of her beautiful arrangements. I'm sure her work continues to bring joy to many people.

Laura spends a lot of time reciting her floral accomplishments. Nice photos of her displays.

This was a gift to my sister. She has found it very interesting that politics played such a big part in assuring the floral arrangements reflected what would be important to visitors from other countries to the White House.

I gave this book to my daughter who just started her own flower arranging business. She loved it and even emailed the author to tell her so. The book is now her constant companion.

This book is a five star treat! Not often do you find beautiful photos of flowers beautifully created and described by such a talented author. Wonderful addition to any collection!

A bit disappoint on the lack of the stories related to diplomacy -- which was I was hopeful
