Death Deserved (Blix & Ramm Book 1)

This book was hypnotic at its best from the cover to the prose to the end.Having not read any book by either of the authors, I was zapped by the strength of the prose which was pretty seamless. I loved how both the authors have amalgamated their writing. The story moved at a swift pace, keeping my mind engaged and my nose to the kindle. The pieces of the puzzle that the story was, were written in such a manner that my curiosity increased with every page.My first Nordic Noir, oh boy, I was blown away by the chill in the story, with a brilliant villain whose brain left indecipherable clues and two odd protagonists who evened each other out.Overall, it was a smooth story with some brilliant subplots that captured my attention completely.

This is the first book in the trilogy.I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.I got into it very quickly and had a hard time putting it down .Great characters looking forward to meeting them again in the next book.

１９９９年オスロで若い巡査二人が緊急通報を受けて駆け付けると妻を射殺して幼い娘を道ずれに自殺しかけている夫がおり、規則遵守で応援がくるまでパトカーから出ようとしないガード・フォッセを置いて一人で説得に入ったアレキサンダー・ブリックスが已む無く夫を射殺して娘を助けた。それから１９年経った今、嘗ての警察学校同級生フォッセは規則通りの動きしかしないまま出世して嫌味たっぷりの警視となり、いまだ刑事のままのブリックスを顎で使っているが、ブリックスは現場捜査のベテランで皆から尊敬されている。名の知れたスポーツパーソナリティで本を出版したソニア・ノードストロムが自宅から姿を消しブリックスは活発な２６歳のソフィア・コビックと組んで捜査を始めたが、ジャーナリストのエマ・ラムが独特の鼻を効かせて周辺の情報を集め始めた。なぜかブリックスはエマに好意的で情報を共有し、エマが新聞にスクープを連発するとフォッセがブリックスを情報を漏したと責めて休職処分にしてしまう。そんななか、ソニアの自宅のTVに彼女のストックホルムマラソン出走予定のスタート順No.１カードが貼ってある不思議さにブリックスとエマが気づき、続いてフットボール選手、セレブ女性、ボーカリスト、ラジオパーソナリティ、牧師、と脈絡もない殺人が続いて、それぞれの住所、肩書などに６，５，４，３という数字が関わっていることを発見した二人は、これは連続殺人で、行方不明のソニアの番号がNo.1だからNo.2が殺されるまではまだ生存しているはずだ、と判断したブリックスは上司フォッセを脅して現場に復帰した。エマのPCに殺人予告メールが入り始め、捜査陣は時間との闘いに入る。ともすれば残酷で暗い予感を招く北欧ミステリだが本作は全く異なり、速いテンポで直球勝負をかけてくるのでワクワクしっぱなしで読後感も爽やかだった。著名作家のコンビが楽しんで書いたのだろう。次作の英訳が待たれる。

This is a well written story with a good plot. Interesting characters. I have a number of the wishing series and like the style. This has different characters but a similar style.

I' likes this book ,because you just can't put it down because the story is so captivating. I already know one of the author and knew it would be a great thriller.Also,the book is well written,no long descriptios for nothing.If you want to read a good thriller ,read this book.I looked if they have written other story,but I will have to wait ....

I have read all the Jorn Lier Horst books, in English, so I was very pleased to see this one offered on Kindle. A very enjoyable read. If you have not read Mr. Horst's books do so.
