Tantamount for Accommodation of Studying
Extremely Paramount for studying. It contains questions pertaining to information inside the book, but is not asked on the study cards accompanying the book. It did have one mistake inside, but came with the corrected answer on a printed piece of paper when delivered. I thought that was great!Pricy, but definitely worth the money if you want extra study material, or just want to collect all of the different types of histology study materials you can get your hands on to prep for the ASCP registration exam.Excellent Book!!

Helpful but absolutely necessary
I bought this book when I was studying for the HT. Some people in my lab swore by this book...some saying that many of the questions showed up word for word on the test (although the book says they don't- and I don't think my test did). I found it helpful but if it was the only thing you studied you would probably be in trouble taking the test. I have since taken the test and passed. This is a good companion study guide to the Carson book but you would be better off just studying the Carson book- particularly the principles of staining...know what all your reagents do (they do pretty much the same thing in every stain so that isn't as bad as it sounds) and really study your tissue identification. You can find good videos on you tube for this. Go in knowing that the slides they show on the test will look like no slides you've seen before- but if you know your tissues this will really help in identification.

Good book for review, bad for ASCP exam.
This is a solid book for reviewing information and doing a nice Q&A session. I reviewed this book about four times prior to my ASCP exam. In all honesty though, when it came to taking the exam, it wasn't much help. This book provides a lot of basic questions to give a nice solid foundation for Histology, with questions that provide scenarios to help answer questions. But as for taking the exam I had to rely more on the knowledge I had gained from the Freida Carson book (which this book omits a lot of) and my experience through the class and lab practical I had to do.I got to take a look at the Flash Cards that is provided by the same group of people and they look to be much more helpful; the questions were more difficult which kept with what I had encountered during my exam.
