Honest, raw, transparent, and heartfelt
I loved this book and the honesty that came with it. Gabrielle expands on her experience as a rape survivor, let’s us into her beautifully imperfect marriage, discusses her blended family, shares what radical acceptance looks/feels like especially when you’re raising a child who identifies as a trans woman, struggles to carry a child, and what community and itsPower look like in Hollywood when women of color ban together. Her vulnerability allowed me to experience her humanness, and release the assumption that those in Hollywood do not know what it’s like etc., to be a “regular” woman. Yet reading this I’m reminded that we are all extraordinary women, whether in the spotlight or not. Beautiful stories and beautifully written. FYI this book is composed of short stories that we as people can connect to in some way or another.

Beyond disappointing
I really wanted to like this book. Gabrielle and i share many of the same medical issues so I thought it would be interesting. Most of the book, however, seemed to be focused on racism and injustice. Most of the complaining is hard to stomach knowing it comes from a woman who has an entire staff running her household and caring for her children.
