Spicy and flavorful but a bit too salty for my taste
I just had the first of the six pack of this potatoes and beans chili macaroni meal, and I'm pretty satisfied with it.Before opening the lid, I tipped the meal upside-down and gave it a good shake to get the flavor powder to the top of the meal. I did this because some reviewers claim that the powder tends to congeal in a lump at the bottom of the cup.I followed the directions to the letter, using my Keurig coffee maker to add the amount of boiling water indicated in the instructions. After waiting the recommended 5 minutes I gave it a good stir. My idea of turning the cup upside-down before opening it definitely seems to have worked, as the sauce was nicely integrated into the meal when I stirred it.I tested the result, and was surprised to find that the ingredients were all a nice consistency, and not too hard or too soft (as some earlier reviewers have stated). Perhaps the critical reviews were based on older versions of the product, but as far as I can see, following the instructions results in a nice meal. The meal itself is far better than most instant meal brands I've tried (and since I'm a really lazy person I've tried a few). The potato chunks were a bit on the small size, but I guess that's because they need to be small so the water can soak into them fully. There was a slight artificial taste which is common to instant meals, but it was barely noticeable. The biggest criticism I have is that the meal seemed very salty, although this also seems to be a flaw with a lot of packaged meals, and here the sodium level is 22% of the recommended daily allowance, which I guess is acceptable, although as I suffer from borderline high blood pressure I would prefer it to be lower. Some reviewers have complained about the level of hot spices in this meal. The package indicates two chili peppers out of three, and I think that's about right. It's definitely got a kick to it, but it is nowhere near as spicy as something like an Indian vindaloo or phaal. It's more jalapeño pepper level - definitely not as hot as a habanero. I think the big issue here is that most of us Americans are not used to spicy food, so when anything has a good deal of hot spices in it, many of us are unprepared.All-in all, I was quite surprised to find this meal so edible. I will definitely be ordering this one again.

They were ok
Not the best thing I've had, but after cup of noodles style meals like this, it's a nice change-up... but they're more expensive and not something i felt compelled to buy more of right away, just was a nice change of pace for those efficiency meals. Was worth trying, but I'm not super excited about them, just ok. If the price was like $2/ea one in the full pack less than what they cost, then I'd be way more excited about them. They dont exactly reconstitute as well as cup noodles either, so I'm not highly recommending them. They were just not a total disappointment, but i think they should be cheaper since they don't really cook quite how they're supposed to. Not very impressed, just good enough to not want my money back, not good enough to buy again unless they have at least a 30% off sale

Disappointed
I really wanted to love this and support Wicked Kitchen… it was awful… there is an overwhelming spice/herb in this that I can’t point my finger on. The texture…just overall bad… and too $$$ for something that tastes like it was bought at .99 store .

Surprisingly good when 'cooked' correctly. Very tasty.
I don't know why but the cooking directions of add hot water to the fill line and then let it sit for 5 minutes just don't work for me. I wind up with crunchy pasta and undercooked beans. You can't microwave in the container so I then filled it with hot water, put a small plate on top of it to hold in the heat and let it sit in the microwave for 10 minutes and that definitely allowed it to cook through but would also make some of it mushy. Not very appetizing. Tonight decided to give it another shot this time I dumped the contents into a bowl and added just over a cup of hot water. I put that covered in the microwave for 5 minutes at 30% power and it came out perfect. I needed to add a pinch of salt and it was all it needed. It definitely has a spicy kick, and was actually pretty good at this point. I had some pico de gallo and non-dairy sour cream in the fridge so I added a little bit of both and grabbed a handful of tortilla chips. What a delicious, satisfying and filling meal this turned out to be. Now that I know how to cook it so that it works for me, I will definitely purchase this again. This was a full on dinner for me which really surprised me. I didn't need those couple of extra things on it but it was a nice addition and I would do it again, and maybe even add a small handful of non-dairy cheese when it's in the microwave.

tastes like very processed food
Not sure why anyone would find this product appealing. Nothing about it was good. Tastes like the cup it comes in. It isn't very convenient since you can't put the cup in the microwave. Pouring the boiling water over it didn't actually cook everything. Many bites had crunchy uncooked cardboard-tasting "food."

Easy, fast meal, great flavor!
I purchased this item wanting something different. The directions for preparing it are easy, but can be difficult if you can't boil water or don't have access to a microwave to get the water to boiling. The spicy level in this is perfect! Just a little kick with loads of flavor. Quality ingredients and I don't feel "bad" or bloated after eating this item. IDK what the price is for this now, but when I made my purchase, it was 6 for $21, which comes to $3.50 a serving. Really fair price!

Great taste
While I like the flavor the shipping lacks. Two of the six were broken open. The spices were all over the remaining four pieces. This was very upsetting.

Smells great, tastes great
I agree with the other reviewers, 5 minutes in the boiling water wasn't enough. But, it tastes wonderful. One of the packages arrived already open, and I contacted Amazon customer service and we got that straightened out. This is excellent "comfort food" for camping or out on the boat. But steep it 10 minutes not 5, seriously.
