I bought a bunch of these to give to my wife and kids. They all love this multitool and intend to keep them handy in their car trunks for routine use and possible emergencies.

The AllynX multitool just arrived and right away, I'm thinking this might be my new favorite tool. I have several multitools, it's my vice. Up to now my Gerber Suspension, has been a solid and constant companion but now...?The AllynX has a good heft to it, not too heavy but weighty enough to feel strong. As the title suggests the blades (3, knife, wood saw, hacksaw/file) are right around the three inch mark, just under twice the length of the Gerber's. Yet the whole AllynX, when folded is maybe a 1/4" longer. The scissors are a good length too and have a clever spring design. When the scissors are locked in place the "spring", a thin arm, activates. Prior to locking in place the spring does not work so is an added safety feature. The release system for the four big tools is a press mechanism that is easy to operate with your thumb. The smaller tools have a similar press to release system.Speaking of which there is a good variety of tools. The pliers have wire cutter blades that can be replaced, they're held in with small allenkey bolts. We'll see how well the blades/edges stay sharp and how the included pouch stays together. There are two items I'm not overjoyed with, the first being the pouch. Like so many of its ilk it closes with a hook & loop fastening. These tend to collect bits o' lint over time and become ineffective, a better idea would to use a good snap button, metal not plastic. The other negative is the shape, the Gerber has curved handles/tool storage so when opened it fits comfortably, well at least in my hands, and does not slide out of my grip easily. The AllynX has straight handles and so does not feel as confident in my hands.Both of the negatives are somewhat subjective but the lager blades and clever design make this a tool worth buying and as both the Gerber and AllynX are at the same price level it could be a tough choice.One last comment the blades feel strong, considering their extra length, with little to no flex so unless you really abuse them they should hold their shape and not snap easily. If I could award another half star I would.

I will have to agree with my fellow reviewers-- the case seems very cheap-- especially for this price point. There are 17 useful tools-- with each side of the tool offering different options with the pliers being the central tool. One thing I would like to remark on-- some of tools like this have lock mechanisms that are very hard to operate. These are just stiff enough without impeding use. I knocked off a star for the cheapness of the case.

Hi. I have been using this AllynX multi-tool for a few weeks now and it has earned its spot on my current EDC rotation. While I have regularly carried all manner and shapes of traditional, “tool rich”, Victorinox knives for years, this is the first time that I’ve carried a Leatherman, um, “homage” and I have to say that I am quite pleased with it.The tool I received had been carefully machined and assembled and had zero flaws. The individual tools all lock in with a reassuring “snick” sound and are released/freed by pressing a dedicated safety button or lever. It is a well thought out, built into the background, safety system that does the job. Simply put, it is a “no stitches required” design that works.This tool comes with a decent belt loop only (no rear clip) nylon carry case that has a Velcro closure flap. While this storage case is a nice bonus to be included with the purchase, I anticipate that the tool will last far longer than the case.The takeaway: This is a well made, versatile, multi-tool that is a terrific value for the asking price. These AllynX pocket multi-pliers (though probably not pocketable for most folks) are a great addition to anyone's tool set on the cheap. The multi-tool is light, though it feels durable and well-made, with solid hinges and little to no flex in the pliers or pins. The spring-loaded pliers grip well and balance nicely in retraction for single-hand use and the broad knife arches aid in opening any tool with just a thumb. It comes with a nice nylon sheath with a Velcro fastener, rather than a button fastener.

Although I've long been a gadget freak of the first order, strangely I've never had one of these multi-tools you can clip to your belt (although I DO carry a Swiss Army Knife in my jeans pocket, probably using the toothpick more than any other tool on the piece!)So -- I can't compare this multi-tool to any other, like the Leatherman that is probably the best known and which sells for the same price.What I can attest to is the build quality of this AllynX model: in a word, excellent!All the tools unfold smoothly and lock into place. The device is quite intuitive to operate, and it all folds back neatly and precisely into a compact piece that fits perfectly in the rugged nylon carrying case with belt loop provided.The various tools appear to be of high quality as well, each one definitely more robust than its counterpart on even a large Swiss Army Knife.So this multi-tool would most definitely be welcome on a camping trip or in your car or truck's glove box or in your fishing tackle box.I'm also likely to reach for it around the house when I need to make a quick fix and don't want to be bothered rummaging through my cluttered hardware drawer.And yes, ladies, this would make a great gift for the man in your life!Two thumbs up!
