It has been said that this work is on the shelves of almost all behavioral therapists. I can easily promote this as it has already helped thousands of individuals. Dr. Peck has written to an audience consisting of young adults and mature men and women. It probes questions many of us have about life in an easy to understand language. The case studies are reflections of real encounters,true lessons involving social psychology. Please read or listen and judge for youselves. I review the contents from time to time because it can lift me when I search for inspiration. There are so many excellent passages that should be explored. The theme is spiritual growth but science and its dogma are not brushed aside. The two are equally remarkable in the author's eyes and could be heading to a point of conversion.

READ ONLY IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT HEALING YOURSELF. I READ IT EVERY 10 YEARS OR SO AND EACH TIME MY LIFE GETS BETTER. IF ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS BITCH AND MOAN ABOUT POOR ME THIS ISN'T THE BOOK FOR YOU AS YOU'RE NOT READY.THAT SAID IT'S MUST FOR ALL OF US DAMAGED PEOPLE WHO WANT TO LOVE THEMSELVES AND BELIEVE LIFE CAN AND SHOULD BE BETTER. THANK GOD I READ THIS BOOK IN MY 20'S IT'S BEEN A CHALLENGING BUT GREAT 30YEARS!

I love Scott Peck! I wish all of his work was available on audio. I'd own the lot! Great great stuff. I think I will go listen to him again right now!

This was rough for me to read as it is very deep. It has opened my eyes to many things but it does not offer many solutions. I ended up getting it on audio.

I found I couldn't sit down and read this as a story or novel; I read it in sections and loved it. I also liked "The People of the Lie", but you need to be a brave realist for that one.

I first read this book in college and it explained so much about lifes frustrations, there's reason for them. It made sense of relationships and lifes outcomes. It spells out that "Life is difficult" get over it and start living, But Scott Peck says it persuasively and with great love. I recommend this book to anyone interested in personal growth and meaning.

The audio book I purchased has four cd's. Sadly, Cd one is inside the book twice and cd three is missing altogether.This was my first experience with amazon. I cannot believe this has happened. The book (after cd two) has not been listened to. Phone calls to the vendor have gone unreturned.I've no recourse. Whats a consumer to do?thanks for asking.....

This book saved me several thousand dollars in psychotherapy and literally changed my life (and karma) when I first read it in the early 90s.

I usually go for books so decided to go for the audio to try. Scott Peck has such wisdom and to anyone on a spiritual journey or at least open to one this will really make sense and touch the heart. I listen to them in the car and whenever i can. A must buy
