Forged on the anvil of enduring the confinement of a Texas prison for many years, Goldberg has brought a whole new and inspiring account of the depth of his alliance with and reliance on his creator, his God! As he beautifully writes his internal thoughts, its clear to me the whole nook is an earnest desire to bring to us all the freedom and power of a devout and unbreakable faith. I'm an Irish catholic with a boundless gratitude for the nurturing faith filled soil I was raised in. The Jewish people are out elder brothers and sisters. This, I truly believe. Having spent 3.5 years in Lurie-Gancho, a Peruvian prison in the desert out side Lima in my early 30s, so many thoughts came rushing back to me of the sustaining grace of my childhood faith carrying me through the hellish ordeal! The clouds that cover the sunshine, they cannot banish the sun, and the earth shines out the brighter, when the weary rain is done. We must stand in the deepest shadow to see the clearest light. Truly, the pages of this book are a crystal clear mosaic of an unbreakable and enduring faith.Dror, to you my kindred brother I say the words of Isaiah 60:1- "Arise, Shine; for thy light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee".

I finished this book in one sitting and plan to read it again. Mr. Goldberg has now been in prison over half his life and writes on his journey from acceptance to gratitude to service by turning his life and will over to the care of God. I hope Mr. Goldberg can forgive my spelling the name out, I am a devout Catholic. While never incarcerated myself, I faced a prison of sorts that I had once thought insurmountable. The very same principles Mr. Goldberg writes on from his personal experience in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice are the one I was also taught by kind and loving people of faith. How wonderful to get these principles outlined from the essays from a 'simple Jew' who devoutly studies the laws of his faith and continues to be inspired by wonderful Jewish teachers. While a collection of essays, this book can also be read as a daily reflection book. Mr. Goldberg moved us to look at our freedom in perhaps a new way. He submits this book is not a vehicle in which to deliver 'terrible prison stories', rather it is a message of how gratitude can transform a person's life to of one of freedom, regardless of circumstance. A very intriguing and inspiring book depicting how the principles we too often study and discuss, but no not practice enough, helped one man survive and transform his life in the harshest of circumstances.

I can't even imagine being in the Texas Prison System, and then finding gratitude in being there. Mr. Goldberg writes so many lessons that every single can apply their lives to make them better. The attitude of gratitude is beautiful and if he can apply it to his circumstances so can you. READ THE BOOK and pass it along as it will change your life it changed mine.

Dror Goldberg has a special insight into life's hidden meaning that people in the outside world have little chance of seeing. I'm so grateful for reading this special group of essays that shed light on the dormant dank every day experiences of life. I encourage anyone seeking light and wisdom so savor every word of this gift from the heavens.

I received this book as a gift because I have been in touch with Dror, a childhood friend of mine, for more than 15 years. I pray for his release daily because he is innocent (see his story on drorgoldberg.net). His soul soars in this first book and I look forward him to continuing to find his voice. I find myself crying because we all can be imprisoned by our negativity. And the Almighty G!d can also set us all free. Read and share!

This book is about the power to stay positive through spirituality and gratitude, even while living through very challenging days. I was inspired by Dror's honesty and perspective on truth and hope. The short essays are pithy and poignant. I highly recommend not only reading it, but talking about the content with others over the holidays, or around the dinner table any time of year.
