Great Ilustrations!
If you are a polyhedra nutcase like me, purchase this book for its copious illustrations - over 200 pages worth! They're beautiful, complex and fascinating. The text is largely devoted to placing the geometrical artists, about several of whom little is known, in their Renaissance historical/artistic context.I would like to have read in greater detail about the means by which the illustrated works were produced - the craft, the use of perspective. I would also have appreciated some geometrical analysis of the polyhedra themselves, i.e., "This polyhedron can be derived from this Platonic solid in such and such a manner..". (For this, look to the bibliography, particularly "A Closer Look at Jamnitzers Polyhedra," which can be found online.). Finally, there are more typographic errors than one usually encounters in most books.Criticisms aside, I'm delighted to add this book to my collection of related titles. I own it for the pictures and for the historical, mathematical, scientific and artistic legitimacy it lends to my obsessive, moderately psychotic, passion for polyhedra.

Cool book for geometry obsessed people like me. Its focus is rather narrow, but interesting none the less.
