Big hit as a birthday present
My daughter chose this as a birthday present for her friend. I saw it before she wrapped it and it is fun, great for older elementary, tween , and even teen girls. It is a decent size and looks good for a present and apparently was a big hit!

Very Fun and Easy to Personalize
This product was amazing! It included everything to decorate the book. My daughter absolutely loved it. This toy came with the puffy paste, star tip, charms and of course the notebook. This toy also comes with instructions for different ways to style your notebook. There may seem to be fewer pages than expected, but they are really just thin. WARNING: If you can’t find the star tip you just need to open the bottom flap where the puffy paste is.

A MUST!
So much fun for my daughter! Highly recommend this! Not only do they get to design the outside of their journal with the cutest little dodads and puffy glue but the inside is full of things for them to fill in and do to. A definite just for the artist in your family

Could Have Been So Much Better
I wanted to love this but I already have misgivings. For one, there's a bit of advice on page 3 saying that the charms might fall off. Ummm wow. Really? Sure they say to use a strong adhesive but then an adult has to be involved. So that's a bit of a discouragement. The charms and stickers and such are cute. Clearly inspired by kawaii. This is actually what appealed to me because I hoped it would thrill my granddaughter. The "meat" of the journal begins on pages 12 and 13 with a quiz. Then there's some fill-in-the-blank type things. It isn't until page 17 you actually have the space and freedom to actually write a journal entry. And there won't be another until pages 29 and 47. Yep. You get 3 whole pages for journaling. The rest is activities and such. I wouldn't mind all this fluff stuff if the book itself included more opportunities for personal writing. And maybe that's for the best. The paper is glossy. This will limit the types of pens one can use in the book. Or, and I would highly recommend this, you will want to blot the pages so keep paper towels handy. Simply have the child write and, before turning the page, lay a sheet of paper towel on the page and turn. With that in mind, you might want to wait to decorate the cover until the rest is filled in. I can't imaging the bumpy cover will not make it easy to write in the book. *shrug*So yeah, it's cute. And it's easy to fill up with fun things but I had hoped for more. Hopefully my granddaughter will love it and have fun tilling it and decorating it. I'll update this review if she is thrilled. Otherwise, assume she didn't think it was nearly as much fun as it looked to be.

Allows Girls to Be Creative While Learning About Themselves
My granddaughter loves this kit. It was hours of fun for her. Before I get into details the only CON I have for this diary is that it takes too long for the clay frosting to dry. The instructions says it takes 24-48 hours to dry (48 before it gets hard). I think this is entirely too long. And even after 48 hours the frosting is not completely hard. It is spongy. Another tip: Don't put the frosting on until the very end. My granddaughter put it on first and it made it difficult to open the pages without getting the frosting (puffy paste) everywhere. If you're looking for instructions, they are on the inside of the diary and have perforated pages that can be torn out. The diary comes with the puffy paste, 5 custom charms, 4 sheets of squishy stickers, 15 rhinestones and a star tip. The pages have a place where your child can answer questions about herself, like an about me section, a rainbow quiz with questions (If I could be an animal, I'd be a?) and other fun pages. It has a 30 days of Happy where the child writes down something that makes them happy for 30 days in a row.The product page says this is recommended for ages 8+, while the inside of the diary says 3+ and up. I would not recommend this for a 3 year old. However, even though the description says 8+, my granddaughter is 7 and very responsible. I would even say someone 5 or 6 could do complete this journal with the help of an adult. My 7 year old did it by herself, she just needed a little assistance with the frosting and the tip.
