Set of 3 Wood Lathe Turning Tools w/ 6 Replaceable Tungsten Carbide Tips, 3 Long Strong Handles
I enjoy woodworking but haven't yet ventured into turning using a lathe. Maybe when I win at Lotto or something I can afford a lathe! I've always wanted to have one, my Dad had a small Metal Lathe which I used some. Mom sold it when he passed years ago when I was too far away to get it. Anyhow, this cased set of tools is well done with the full sized 3 wooden handled turning tools. The fixed metal bars hold the replaceable Tungsten Carbide (TC) cutters. I was delighted to see that the Seller includes 2 replaceable TC cutters for each of the 3 tools for 6 TC cutters total. The cardboard box these come in is foam lined which holds everything well & safely to keep the tools from knocking around. Not too durable in a shop environment though. Tungsten Carbide is very hard but can be brittle and is subject to chipping if struck against another bit or a hard steel tool. I use TC router bits for woodworking constantly so know.I can give a Limited 4 Star Recommendation for this Yellowhammer Brand Premium 3 Piece Full Size Carbide Turning Tool Set with Ergonomic Cushioned Grip Beechwood Handles and 2 Each Round, Square and Diamond-Shaped Carbide Cutters. Well done set but too pricey even with the spare cutters. The box is poor and won't hold up in a shop.I hope you’ve found the information and my review helpful.

Very nice but the inserts...
Was quite surprised when I open this one up. Was not expecting the such robust, heavy duty tools. I mean these are some very nice handles. I really appreciate how long they are and with foam/rubberish grips towards the ends for secure grip. The tangs are heavy duty as well. There are soft plastic covers for the ends, but I am not a fan. Nice they are there, but real pain to get off and I ended up cutting one trying to remove it. Comes in a cardboard box, so not much for storage. And of course you get extra carbide cutters. As for cutting, they cut well. I have sharper cutters, but these do the job pretty well. Takes off the wood fast and about as clean as other cutters. Of course not sanding free, but close.I am bummed because I really like these tools. But sadly, as the other reviewer said, you can't get replacement cutters. Kind of a deal breaker really. Since they are not like normal cutters, with the grooves on the backs, only one place to get them, and you can't get them from Yellowhammer. I even went to their website, they don't even list carbine cutter sets, nor of course do they list any extra cutters. Why?Being carbide cutters, you have more than one edge, so you can move the cutter for fresh edge, but only so many times. You can sharpen them, but only so much. So, as the other reviewer also said, right now, they are disposable.I've reviewed a few other carbide cutter lathe tools, and so far all of them use standard cutters, that you can get from multiple companies, so those are still very usable.I do like these, mainly the handles, but it's up to you if they will work. Hopefully Yellowhammer will wise up and make replacements available.

I have really been enjoying using these
I spent several hours working with all three of these tools on my wood lathe yesterday. I should note that I was just working in pine so it's not a very hard or difficult would to turn. That said I was very pleased with the balance and usability of all three of these. The rubber hand grip area of the handle is helpful while being very unobtrusive. The tool length and balance for just perfect for my needs. The card by tips are very well formed and extremely sharp. I love that with this type of tool I never have to worry about the joys and riggers of sharpening traditional steel tools. All in all I'm very pleased and a bit surprised how well these tools from a brand I never heard of are working out for me.

Solid tools, but no replacement inserts?
At about $40 each, these are about a third the price of similar tools from Easy Wood Tools and other US makers, and include a complete spare set of inserts. While they don’t cut as smoothly as the EWT tools, they handle well and are easy to control. Unlike some Pacific rim import carbide tools, the inserts are very secure and don’t move under load, thanks to a unique design feature: The inserts aren’t flat backed, but have a ridge along the back side that keys into the tool shaft. While this is a good feature, it means that you can’t use most inserts sold for wood turning tools. I couldn’t find replacement inserts for these tools on Amazon, so I sent a question to the sellers, but two days later I still haven’t received a reply.Update: I sent a second request, and still no answer. I’d assume that replacement inserts aren’t available, and you should treat these as disposable.
