ABE leather hides Cow Leather Skins Colors and Sizes (Black, 12 x 24)

I'm impressed by the quality of this leather, especially for the price. Color is consistent (I ordered two 12x24" pieces separately, and they matched well), the matte finish is perfectly suited to match automotive upholstery, the pebbled texture is nice (neither too subtle, nor too pronounced), it's strong and durable (even when being wet formed/stretched around contours), and it has the right balance of feeling soft while feeling sturdy. It also skives well, and accommodates stitch punches without deforming or tearing. Highly recommended.I ordered this leather to re-upholster my truck's center console armrest. The finished product turned out better than I'd hoped, and much of this had to do with the quality of the ABE leather. I cut the leather slightly undersized and stretched it into position using a bit of water around the tightest contours, and the leather maintained its strength, texture, and was colorfast. Most importantly, there was no deformation or pulling at the side seams; the saddle stitching and piping on the side panels was done by hand, without a machine stitch for reinforcement, and I was worried that stretching the cover into place might expose the weakness in any leather I'd chosen, but this ABE leather held up beautifully. (a note to Chevy owners: this leather turns out to be a great-but-not-perfect match for the OEM black leather and vinyl; color is slightly lighter, texture is a bit more subtle, and sheen is lower, but the difference is so small that it blends right in with the OEM upholstery).

Brown is so dark it looks black, not even close to the photo. Useless for my project. Otherwise, very nice quality.

Such a beautiful piece of fabric. Smelled great and no blemishes. It was perfect for my project.

Here are the "good" and "bad" on this product...ADVANTAGES.1. The skin is soft and pliable..2. The manufacturer takes great care in packaging his product. It is rolled in a PVC pipe and glossy paper to prevent the leather from sticking together. An outside sheet secured by packaging tape holds the product together..3. It is the cheapest 12"x12" leather sheet on the Amazon website...DISADVANTAGES.1. The vendor will not respond to inquires or emails..2. It is thin: 1-1.4mm. If the manufacturer is able to keep it between 1.4-1.6mm, that would be great..3. The product is not the best quality - top grain leather...------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------..UPDATE: The company's five pieces deal, 9.5" x 5.5", is probably the greatest steal for leather. You can only buy black..My only complaint was one of the five had a 0.5" cut. I had to trim off the defect to use as a interior support patch for a large hole on my recliner. I also purchased the company's 12" x 12" brown leather to cover the exterior. In the process, I saved $1,600. There was no need to buy a new recliner.

I like it and with a very small rubbing of mink oil, the leather is very nice. I would say this is a 3-4 ounce leather and has a soft glovey feel with good stretch. If you want a firm leather, don't get it. This makes a great shell for laptop/pad cases, wallets, etc when backed with some 4-6 oz veg tan.The grain is a medium pebble grain you can feel, but the surface is does not feel like plastic or waxy. Hence, using a small amount of mink oil will bring subtle shine which smooths out the contrast.The hide condition was free of marks, and has uniform thickness. So they are taking care to cut choice pieces from the hide in directions that prevent wide disparities in thickness.I would buy a whole hide of this.

This leather is awesome. Thin, but not too thin! It comes rolled up and naturally got some dings and wrinkles on the way. I googled and discovered that a very warm (hot) steam iron will make it perfect again. Just put some plain brown paper over the suede side and iron away. When it’s gotten hot, quickly lay it flat and stack a few heavy books on top. When the leather cools, it will be perfect. We made plant hangers with mine and I have enough left for several more!

It is very nice, but print not centered (slightly). Any way I used it to my very first leather wallet, and I am happy.

The quality of the leather was great and design looked perfect. Only down fall the alligator print was not centered on the cut section I received so unable to use on my project.
