Really cool thing! Has its quirks, but the sabre effect wins through!
Well, this is a cool bit of kit to be wielding around in the dark! It looks awesome, sounds great and has the ability to choose various colours and sabre sounds. I'm pretty certain the sounds are from that well known production where these "sabres of light" originated so they do sound authentic.Reading the instruction sheet you quickly figure out how to change the various effects (colours, sound selection, effects etc) using the single button on the side. The button is ringed with an LED light so it flashes to let you know which "setting" you're adjusting. It also has a built in voice that announces what setting you're adjusting too, and it sounds clear and mostly understandable. The effect of turning this on & off and wielding it about like a Jedi is pretty stunning though! The blade is strong hollow plastic (I think it's polycarbonate or something that's pretty tough anyway!) and it fits well into the top of the hilt. You then need to use 2 of the 4 allen key screws (supplied with the allen key) to hold it in place. I have to mention that after a few days' use these screws are working loose (and that's without duelling with it) so I can imagine the blade flying out at some point, or tightening the screws until they crack the blade if you're not careful. An engineering oversight perhaps, but keep in mind that you're going to want to thrash this thing about like a Jedi possessed! Be care to ensure the blade and screws are secure etc...Also the hilt (handle) is made from metal sections that are screwed together and mine started to unscrew during use. Again check for that periodically or the hilt might just fall apart in your hand!If this wasn't so cool I'd be tempted to knock my star rating down due to the engineering "quirks" outlined above, but I have to admit that quirks aside, this is a super cool thing. It looks and sounds blinkin' awesome, and the added effect of a flash and blaster sound when you tap the button has you looking like you're deflecting laser blasts like a Jedi in battle!I found I compared this to the bunch of original/genuine Master Replica Force FX sabres I have (the ones with the LED blade that gives the power up & down effect, with genuine Star Wars sound effects in them, but not for duelling as the LED system in the blades will break!) and find this version, with the various colours and sound fonts, looks and feels superb in use. I think when you have one of these you'll want to muster a collection of them for some proper playtime duelling fun.Add to that, this one is USB rechargeable so it doesn't eat AA batteries and isn't oversized to take the electronics and battery compartment. It's the perfect size for wielding about.Gone on a bit haven't I? In summary, putting the quirks aside this is a super awesome light sabre that gives the feeling we've all been after for generations. May that feeling be with you, always!

First impressions weren't great but thank the Maker that this is quality
This didn't exactly scream quality when it arrived. OK, we all know this isn't officially licensed Lucasfilm merch, but the packaging could do with some work, especially as I spent ages taking off the tape that was used to essentially encase the sabre within.Once I removed miles of tape things got a little bit better. Inside was the "blade", the handle, instruction leaflet and a bag of grub screws and an allen key.The instructions aren't the best, but they're understandable and YouTube videos for very similar products exist which gives you an idea anyway. The handle, although devoid of detail (it's really smooth looking and in feel) it is weighty, well made, and of high quality. The "blade" although solid, is just plastic, and I feel that this won't stand up to much abuse at all. It's very easy to "build", stick the plastic "blade" into the handle, add grub screws into the holes, and then tighten. The instructions does it's best to explain the different modes and a muffled voice (it's not the best) tells you what mode you are in, but once you've set up your colour of choice (there's 12 to go through), your "sound font", and volume, you're on your way to becoming a Jedi or Sith...The iconic hum that it make when you first power it on, that flash of light as the sabre comes to life is the stuff many of us have dreamed of. Swing the lightsabre and it sounds like it does in the movies. Everything about the motion and the lights and the sounds are practically true to the movies. Younger me would take this to school everyday. Older me wants to take this to work everyday, especially as the sun isn't up yet on my commute. This is awesome. So, price, £90 seems a lot of money for a third party sabre, but then have you seen the price of official ones and I can't imagine the quality being that much better than this.

I’m normally silenced by Amazon
I wrote a review about another duelling saber before and they removed it as it apparently went against guidelines. I contacted them and asked what was wrong and they had nothing to tell me but I wasn’t allowed my review on there. They’ll probably remove this too.Either way this saber doesn’t have smooth swing.

Dueling light saber
This lightsaber looks and sounds amazing; the range of colours is great and the various effects with light and sound all add to the fun too. It's a good size and weight for adults or teens, though you do need a bit of space to wield it around in (I had to be a bit careful of hitting the ceiling lights!)The whole kit seems well made, the handle is particularly weighty and nice to hold, and the blade appears to be pretty sturdy. It's easy enough to assemble too, though I was surprised that the small screws just press against the blade - be worth double checking everything is tightened up before each use. I like that it charges with USB so there's no constant replacing of batteries. There is only one button to operate everything, which means there's lots of holding for a certain number of seconds to select different options - this isn't the easiest to get right first time so it took me a while to get it set up but you do get the hang of it eventually.Overall, this is really cool and lots of fun - ideal for Star Wars fans or cosplay enthusiasts!

I got this for my son
I got this for my son as he is an avid star wars fan. It changes colours and seems to do what a light saver should do , except kill people . A fun toy for people who love light sabers.

Must have for SW fans!
Fun toy for adults! It has sound effects while moving the lightsaber. The lights can be changed quite easily when you get used to it. You will need a couple of minutes to understand the logic behind it but there is a great youtube video explaining it.Happy with the item! Recommended.
