A trippy Amusing film
This is an interesting 80s film that seems to want to cram a lot of ideas from other films of the time together. It has a good plot and the characters are nicely played. This is definitely not a psycho slasher film but a weird surreal ride with an interesting cast of characters. It is like Alice in Wonderland but with a sad clown as the hero. I am not sure if how the director portrayed the cast of characters was intentional or accidentally interesting. Because most of them seem to have more to them but never had a chance to be developed. However they come across to me like part of the ride/experience of an amusement park. That is they entertain as the story passes them by. Their was some blatant racism and again I have no idea if it was incidental or intentional. Because the scene with the black men being given jobs to sell watermelons while dressed like farm hands is one thing. The one that confused me was that they had KKK members in there cowardly white robes in the waiting crowds on opening day. I know this would happen still in the 60s but was not aware of it still going on in the 80s when I was growing up. So I am honestly not sure if this was just that persons idea of an opening day crowd in Ohio or some sort of statement.Other than that the film was definitely worth a watch. Though would have very little replay value.

Unexpected gem!
This DVD got to me fast, and safe. Good quality.I'll say, the movie wasn't exactly what I thought it was, but it was pretty good regardless. The description and cover make it seem like a killer clown movie, and it's much more then that. He doesn't really kill much of anything, it's more of a dark comedy about a summer job that gets taken over by the mob.

Confusing tone but its obviously satire... Maybe
At first I wasn't sure how to take this movies tone. it advertised itself as horror movie but has gangsters, a clown protagonist who's mental stability slips towards the end and various sight gags like some sort of weird satire or maybe even a teen comedy. I finally settled on satire as it over all tone is just off and weird. I'm not saying technically its a bad movie, the acting was passable and the writing was semi coherent, but its over arching tone was the point I got suck on the most. WTF is this a comedy? A gangster movie? A thriller? A satire of amusement parks in general? If you can ignore that one hang up its a watchable movie with some good gags in it.

Excellent movie-but what you should know
Okay first of all, this movie can not be defined as horror, comedy, or dramatic because it is all three. I feel this movie could be a cult classic, if it were marketed correctly. It's so bizarre, twisteed, goofy, and stupid how can it be labeled? I can guarantee for a person to enjoy this film he/she has to be in a "what the?" mood. Mixed lightly with a teaspoon of "Okay?" Some of the weirder scenes in the film: 1) at bosse's funeral the clown stands infront of the casket, and talks about how his boss would get a thrill from his secretary's t_ts. 2) The talking pepperoni puppet who likes to argue with his owner 3)the freak out scene when Bruce Burger imagines everyone dancing about, while one lady prances around in a pair of bat styled wings.Probably one of the goofiest ideas was the mob boss who bought the park...rip off of the God Father Movie. One surprise is that one of the dorky security guards was played by the same woman who was Mimi in The Drew Carry Show.As I said, this movie has a real flavor to it, but it's a taste you have to aquire first before eating it all up.

You must be as tall as my balls to get on this ride ....
Crazy, funny ... not really horror, but more like clown goes crazy and goes after the bad guys!

Not good, but not awful either.
This PG-13 Rated film can't make up its mind whether it wants to be a comedy film or a horror film. It is much too tame to be either, but it does have its moments.

Great 80's film
I liked this film, but my Husband didn't. (But he is boring and doesn't like strange or surreal stuff!) If you want a whiff of 80's nostalgia, the clothes, the hair, the music etc and enjoy films about twisted clowns, then this is a film for you. (The mobster doing an impersonation of Marlon Brando, circa The Godfather, was a bit annoying though.)
