LaCrosse La Crosse 204-109 9 Inch Traditional Thermometer/Hygrometer, 9"

The company who sold the thermometer GreatBigOutlet, quickly delivered an unopened, undamaged unit. This was a replacement for one that got broken by a power washer so I knew what I was getting. Where I live is very close to the ocean so the less metal parts the better, this is almost all glass and plastic so no corrosion. These thermometers are accurate, but a little tough to read. The humidometer on my old one was fairly accurate. The new one was way off but, after adjusting the needle it reads exactly what a couple of high end humidometers in the neighborhood read so I think it's acute too. This winter will be the tell tale. Moreover for this cheap it's a giveaway bargain. I think I stock up in case they stop making them.

I searched for hideaway for keys, because my son kept losing his key. This thermometer came up and seemed good for the price. It doesn’t have anything to clip the key on in the back or really has no back covering to hide the key. So I made due by attaching a key chain that will allow it to slide into the back area without falling out.

I can’t give five stars because can’t say for sure it’s perfectly accurate or will last long. But was easy to put up and seems accurate enough for my purposes. I got it for my child to track the temperature for science class. I love that you can hide a key behind it, or probably a few bucks if you needed for someone to pick up? Haven’t really used that feature but really nice to have. I also cannot wait for summer to see how the other part does that measures humidity. I got one like this for that aspect too, because I haven’t had that before.

Dislike that it can only be hung by a nail or screw. I would like it to have the ability to be hung by a Command Strip Velcro or Command strip hook.

I’ve seen reviews here complaining about the accuracy of the thermometer/hygrometer. This product is clearly not designed for weather geeks (both my father & my son, God love ‘em) but for people like me that want to hide a house key somewhere other than under a mat. It does the job and is rather inconspicuous on the back patio but it’s also a little pricy for what you get so I left off a star. I’d still recommend.

I feel like it's a sturdy plastic- but unfortunately it's not really a true hide-a-key, which is the true reason I was buying it. Temperature seems to be accurate!
