As a dual USA/NLD citizen considering changing countries this book is a treasure. There is so little information available regarding financial/tax issues for multi-country families I pre-ordered the book and am glad I did. It is written logically, and for those of us not daily immersed in financial matters Mr. Fisher has written this for easy comprehension. In addition, the book is quite comprehensive, causing me to consider issues I would never have known about. I strongly recommend this book to any who are coming to, or coming from the USA, in order to get a grip on the financial/tax issues that cross border life/work creates. It is a good planning tool as well for considering your next moves and living options.

Informative, well written, easy to read
Excellent book, very glad I purchased it. Its an easy read for the lay-person, yet highly informative and insightful. Would strongly recommend for anyone either currently with a global portfolio, or soon to have one. Its a great starting point for getting smarter on how to manage your assets across borders.

they leave it to you to contact a tax consultant and their general comment on tax consultants is that most aren't up to the job because it is too complex - not very useful. So the book is really just an advertisement ...
The book raises many of the problems to be encountered by international families but not very much in the way of specific solutions. For example, they will tell you that if you are a non-resident alien holding US assets, the income from those assets will be subject to US withholding taxes of 25% unless you are in a country with a tax treaty with the US. Instead of putting in a table showing the applicable rates for the tax treaty countries, they leave it to you to contact a tax consultant and their general comment on tax consultants is that most aren't up to the job because it is too complex - not very useful. So the book is really just an advertisement for the authors as tax consultants.

Required reading for international families
This is a great introductory book to the problems facing families working in multiple countries and therefore under different tax jurisdictions over the course of their lives. It would deserve a 5-star rating for the problems that it highlights. Unfortunately is a bit short on specific solutions, mostly due to the fact that the possible combinations are too many and the personal circumstances may vary greatly. So read this book as a guide to develop the questions pertinent to your particular situation to ask your international tax counselor.

Too Focused on U.S.-Europe Issues – 2 Stars
While the **Cross-Border Family Wealth Guide** provides useful information, it is heavily skewed toward U.S.-Europe cross-border issues. The sections on taxes, investing, and real estate are well-written, but much of the advice is framed with a European focus, making it less helpful for families dealing with cross-border situations in other regions like Asia or Latin America. If your financial interests lie beyond U.S.-European borders, you might find this guide limited and lacking the global perspective it promises.**Pros:**- Clear writing and organization- Good advice for U.S.-Europe cross-border families**Cons:**- Too focused on U.S.-European issues- Not enough coverage for other global regionsOverall, a decent resource for some, but not comprehensive enough for those with more diverse international financial interests.

Great summary of cross border taxes and family finances!
When you have world-wide assets or have tax liabilities in different countries you will have to deal with foreign or international tax rules and regulations. This is an excellent book what provides a great overview of possible tax consequences for cross border tax responsibilities and wealth management options together complying with IRS and foreign tax agency regulations.

Helpful for those moving abroad
The author has outlined the very complex fiscal and investment decisions that individuals face when either the immigrate to the United States or immigrate overseas, whether or not they are U.S. citizens. It provides an excellent overview of the issues.
