One of the best books on practical spirituality
This is one of the best books I've read on spirituality. The author makes it clear that the helplessness we feel when we are faced with a problem is due to the lack of awareness of the spirit. Hence the the first thing we have to do is to become aware of the presence of the soul in our life. This book gives you step-by-step instructions to unveil the soul.I also like how the author has distinguished between theistic and atheistic meditation. The book tells you that atheistic meditation only gives you temporary relief but for lasting solution one has to practice theistic meditation. The author also give examples from his own life how spiritual practice helped him to develop concentration and to face the problems in his life. The true value of this book can be best realised with repeated reading.

Learn to enjoy life as it comes to you
Karma Yoga is discussed in the famous Bhagvad Geeta. It says: two things: a) Act skilfully (do what is proper); and b) Act without personal motives (serve God). However, the practices for doing them are given in brief and described in religious terms. This book carries a similar idea, but the ‘how to do it’ part is illustrated very well and in simple language. The common ‘areas’ of mistake, the ‘proper’ attitude towards duty, and the ‘correct way’ of acting in the different situations of life are explained very well. Hence, the book is very appealing. It can be profitably used by almost anyone who wants to lead a more spiritual life. The book also makes us lose the hatred that we feel towards the problems that repeatedly keep on cropping up in our life. I have understood that all of us are born with a ‘particular mindset’. When we are not thoughtful, the mindset dictates our behaviour. Hence, we keep on repeating the same mistakes; we are predisposed to entertain the same kinds of thoughts and emotions; and as a consequence, we keep on getting the same kind of results. But now, after reading this book, I also understand that I can change this situation! I can do it by doing the practices that will alter my mindset. It will open me to a different set of thoughts and emotions. The true value of this book is that it shows us how we can do this task effectively. The book has a devotional attitude, which makes us feel that there is some guiding principle which loves us, cares for us and supports us when it is truly required.

But on re-reading it line by line I found many great gems and reminders
I had read the book earlier. But on re-reading it line by line I found many great gems and reminders. What I liked the most was your account of your personal transformation – how it changed your life when you actually used the mantra technique. It totally fascinated me.However, the most challenging part of the book is on page 53, ‘Control your Interpretation’. In my work here at the Community Centre I have to deal with persons from different work or ethnic backgrounds. So often I’m faced with very tricky and sensitive situations that really test my patience, intelligence, and emotions. Here controlling my interpretations is most crucial. I now understand what I need to do.Further, on p. 110: ‘Dealing with negative emotions’ is another challenging issue – to deal with troublesome thoughts and negative emotions. I have to be more aware and deliberately exercise my self-control. I am really grateful for this ‘how-to-do-it manual’ and I strongly recommend it to all spiritual seekers. Solving the Problems of Life successfully distills a lot of useful and practical wisdom in a short book.
What I like is the balance of the two major parts in the book, first a contextual understanding about spiritual situations faced by most spiritual seekers; in second part, the book shares practical advice on spiritual questions and mantra yoga which helped me progress. Here I found guidance on topics most (or all?) spiritual seekers face about how to conduct themselves and what attitude to adopt in their day to day worldly life. The topics are explained plainly in lay person's language with useful metaphors. The steps to take are clearly articulated and explained. I've re-read this book a few times and can warmly recommend it to fellow seekers.

Brilliant & Insightful
Review By J. V. Joshi; Baroda; [email protected] is a book by a yogi who has disguised himself as an ordinary person! The writing is crystal clear and the articulation is very lucid and brilliant. It gives a very deep insight into the issues of life. The author has liberally shared some of his personal-life experiences to inspire his readers. Whereas the book is easy to read, it requires some re-reading to grasp the ideas.

Guide for starting out on spiritual path
This book provides a clear message and path to follow if you seek to develop a connection with your higher consciousness. It's concise, yet sufficiently descriptive to provide the reader with an understanding of our nature, how to face challenges, how to overcome negative emotions and how to harness your willpower using mantra to achieve sufficient concentration for communion with your higher self. I highly recommend reading this book and emailing the author for your mantra.
