pretty good for what it is
I was hoping these were going to be loud enough that they'd overcome stage noise, but they're not. They're not powered, which is stated in the heading, and I understand that. But it must be a very specific situation to need quiet in-ear monitoring that doesn't go above mid-level. They sound pretty good. Very little noise, no knob noise, and no interference to the sound. But they're not amplified. If you're in need of something that will let you control the volume of your headphones, but not amplify it, this might be the thing for you.

It does the job
Good piece of gear. Sounds good. Recommend it over Elite Core. I do the solo acoustic thing every weekend. Shure SE 425, Alto mixer.

Not an amplifier!
I was looking for an in-ear monitor so I can hear myself in jam sessions, without stinking up the whole jam. So I basically need a small belt-amp that will drive a pair of earphones. But It's not an amplifier! There is no battery, so it can't boost a signal. Too late to return it. Spent $30 for nada. If I had a sound guy, and a mixer, then it would be a good local volume control for my earphones. So "passive", and "needs no power" means, "you've got to take output from a mixer, mate. Your instrument signal isn't enough to drive it."The manual that comes with it mentions the BCM-A2, which DOES take a battery. That's probably what I need...
