A roller coaster of a psychological thriller
This book is an absolute thrill ride. The fist half is a tense psychological thriller, and the second half is an action adventure (actually, now I think about it, this book would make a fantastic movie). While the action is fast and furious, the themes addressed are both wide and deep. They include motherhood, family, trauma and how we process it, addiction, vulnerability. And family. Family is a big theme.Herron writes strong women, even when they are deeply flawed. and she writes them well. Men are almost absent from this book, but I didn't really notice until i sat down to write this review! She focusses on female friendships, made families and other forms of support, and then twists them in the best possible way.

Believable Scary Situation - Small Spoiler
R.H. does a fantastic job weaving a believable and yet scary story. Jillian is an OB pregnant with her ex's baby. She is also ***spoiler***a recovering alcoholic. Jillian is haunted by the lives altering emergency that forced her to seek sobriety. The relatable characters have you on your toes guessing who wants to harm Jillian. Is it her ex? The ex's new girlfriend? One of her pregnant sobriety friends? The neighbor? Every situation sprinkles a little more insight into the mystery of who is harassing and stalking Jillian.Needless to say, I checked on my children and made sure all of my doors were locked before heading to bed.

You won't want to put this book down!
R.H.Herron creates characters that are real - they seem like people you know. This book is suspenseful and heart stopping. You won't want to put it down. It also showcases warm and loving relationships. It will leave you wanting a sequel, just so you can find out how the characters are doing.

Gripping and powerful
With a “ripped from the headlines” feel to it, this story is a wild ride. Joy and grief and friendship and betrayal swim in a huge confusing stew. The power of a mother’s love is the fuel that propels the unlikely but somehow, sadly, believable plot to its breathtaking conclusion. Unputdownable.
