Honest, But Hard to Get Through
This book is so honest. I really love it - it truly captures the author's most intimate thoughts. Ms. Kenyon has an uncanny self awareness which only a writer and someone with a profound experience such as this can have. The book is very difficult for me to read through. At times it is emotional and at others I pause and contemplate for some time. I don't think she needs to be apologetic in the description "This is a journey through a human experience", and to call it what it is: the most tragic challenge a person can go through. Thank you for writing this book.

Lovely, honestly written book about loss
In this beautifully written book, Kenyon describes the harrowing details and emotions she experienced after experiencing the death of her baby girl and then the suicide of her husband, a one-two punch. Both kinds of death are rare in American society, and Kenyon writes honestly in this poignant memoir in ways that moved me to tears several times. Her sorting out of feelings also made me reflect on that for which I should be grateful. As a scholar who writes about death and dying, I have recommended the book many times. A good read.

Sunshower.
Karen Kenyon's memoir is touching, truthful, very real. I read an excerpt years ago when Redbook magazine published a series of young mother's stories. I still have a copy of that article.
