Light turns off after only 3 hours
Overpriced. I paid extra for this version because of the multi color light feature. The light comes on a dusk, but then only lasts 3 hours. Why bother if its going to turn off in 3 hours? I'm in California, so the light is coming on before 5 pm before it gets dark and by 8 pm it has turned off. Not worth the extra money for an item that is already overpriced. I should have got their basic version, because at least it works off of only 1 D battery even though it has a place for 2 batteries. This more expensive light up version definitely requires 2 D batteries to run.

Broke in less than a year -- overpriced
UPDATED REVIEW:So this broke the other day and it worked well enough that I was willing to buy another one in the hopes it would last longer. However when I came back to this page I noticed it costs over 40 dollars. I don't recall paying that much and it seemed awfully expensive considering it didn't even last a year.I went to my local hardware store and for about 30 bucks I was able to buy a small water pump and the necessary attachments and I put that in my bird bath instead. Now I have a little fountain in the middle of my bird bath that pumps 75 gallons of water an hour, that means it moves all of the water in my bird bath about 15 times an hour, that's a lot better than this product that just agitates the surface of the water a little. Not only that but now my bird bath really makes a noticeable water splashing sound with the fountain. The birds so far seem to like the new feature and although I have not seen a hummingbird around my feeders or my bird bath hummingbirds do indeed enjoy moving in and out of falling water such as this so I may just attract hummingbirds with my new setup. So in short I will say this Water Wiggler is a decent product in its own right, being powered by batteries is convenient and the light is a nice touch. But I think it's way overpriced considering you can just make a fountain in your bird bath for about one third less the price of this thing that only lasted less than a year for me.OLD REVIEW:I mostly bought this for two reasons:1) I wanted to keep the water moving to discourage mosquitoes. It does indeed keep the water rippling and so far I haven't noticed any mosquitoes, then again I dump the water out on a weekly basis so that probably helps too.2) To attract birds to the birdbath. I had a birdbath in a location that I thought was a good spot but I never saw any birds use it. I decided to order this product and move the birdbath to a new location. The birdbath was only at the new location for a day before this product arrived so it's hard to tell if this product is doing the trick or if it's the new location but the very next day after putting this in the birdbath I noticed a robin started to use the birdbath. Ever since then I've seen several robins use the birdbath, I've always seen finches, sparrows, and there is even a mourning dove who sits on the birdbath every night for about an hour. The birds love it. Again can't say for sure if it's this product but I'm willing to bet it is.The light is a nice touch too. Doesn't really serve a purpose but it looks cool.

Water wiggler
This is a great product for my bird bath. It keeps the water moving which the birds like and the moving water slows the growth of algae. I also like the changing color light, but wish it stayed on longer. The battery is so much easier to change than my old wiggler. A bit expensive, but the birds are worth it.

Had high hopes.
I was excited to try this. Loved that it had battery backup and colored lights that come on at dusk. Put in batteries in middle of Sunny afternoon And lights came on even though dusk was not for many hours yet. The ripples came on for twenty minutes. I replaced the batteries and it worked for 10 minutes and just died. Not worth it. I will be returning it.

Love the New Style
This lighted wiggles is very cool. The best redesign is the battery compartment—so much easier to replace the batteries now.

A truly useful multi-functional device.
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: The lights seem to come one a little too early while it's light out and you really only get about an hour at night. No way to fix that to make it stay on longer which is unfortunate. So If you can save money by not getting the LED lit ones...you won't be missing much of a light show. Still, the wiggler is important. Nothing but praise for this handy little device. This is the second one I own but my first one didn't have the L.E.D. light and man, it makes a difference. Using two size D batteries, the unit is completely silent and the wiggler part works continuously. The L.E.D. light turns on automatically at dusk and runs for about 3 hours. It's a perfect brightness, not too bright and not too dim. It serves no purpose except for aesthetics. The Wiggler is good for keeping mosquitoes from laying eggs and mine really does attract more bathing birds. The D-batteries have lasted months in my other non-lit wiggler so I'm expecting nearly the same since L.E.D. uses very little power.Don't hesitate to put one of these in your birdbath. They are silent and serve many purposes.

Great Product
We have a big concrete bird bath that I had run an extension cord to so I could run a pump. My last pump lasted about 4 or 5 months, which also seems to be the average life of my pumps. I decided to try the Water Wiggler not thinking it would work as well as the pump, just hoping it would last longer and work well enough to keep the mosquitoes from laying their eggs. After about 1 month of use I can say the Wiggler is MUCH better than any pump I have had in the past. No more extension cords, the water seems to stay cleaner (*not sure how that is possible but I am not changing the water as often), the birds seem to like it better and NO MOSQUITOES. When I first set the Wiggler up I realized the birdbath was too deep for the Wiggler so I simply put in less water. Two day later we had a lot of rain. I went out the next day and the Wiggler was under water, but still working. I took it apart and everything inside was still dry. The instructions read not to let the water get above the legs so I simply put a rock in the middle of the bath and placed the Wiggler on top of it. Forgot to mention we really like the light too. As for power consumption I only had two D cell batteries when the Wiggler arrived. The expiration date on the batteries was 2009, but they still powered the Wiggler until yesterday. I assume the new batteries I replaced them with will last much longer.
