Work grear
I’ve been using these for the past three years and they work great. They significantly reduce chemical requirements in my hot tub. They do take several days to kick-in. I replace mine about twice a year or every other water change. For the first week or two I use the normal amount of sanitizer and then I can slowly taper down to about half what I normally would need without one of these.

Is it really necessary
These things are pretty expensive, and I am not sure they add any additional protection over the chemicals.

Good, but not the end of hot tub maintenance
I bought this thinking I would have to only maintain the spa once a week. You pretty much use the same amount of chemicals as you do if you only use chlorine. This product in no way, shape, or form saves you money on chemicals. The only difference is the tub is being sanitized by the sunpurity unit at all times unlike Dichlor where you have to constantly monitor the levels. Basically, the trade off is that you use MPS instead of Dichlor. You still have to use Dichlor as an initial dose and if the spa gets cloudy. If you only had one person using the spa a few times a week your chemical use might be less, but we use it almost everyday sometimes with 2-4 people. If you follow the instructions exactly, you still have to add MPS after each time you use it and do a shock dose once a week.Lastly, it seems like I am using anti foam far more frequently than I used to without the sunpurity cartridge.Overall, I do not think its bad and my levels in the spa seem to be easier to regulate, but it does not save any money or work involving the spa.

The way to go
If you have a Sundance spa, this system is the way to go. There is usually a small slot in the flow gate of the filter where this thing is installed, so it is out of the way. I used to use bromine or chlorine tablets in a floating dispenser, and had issues with balancing water chemistry. Since I started using this system, it is almost install and forget. After filling the tub and making any adjustments to alkalinity, ph, or hardness, I install the SunPurity cartridge, and pour about an ounce of oxidizer into the water. That's it. Once a week add an ounce of oxidizer (and about half ounce after using the spa) and about a 1/4 capful a week of chlorine shock, and the water is maintenance free! The chlorine smell dissipates after a couple of hours, and the water smells and looks great for months.
