Not initially impressed but...
My library of Frankie Laine hits consists of one cd, one old LP found in a SH shop C1956 and an unknown tape so I expected a lot of repeats on this collection as I already had more than one copy of some. However, some of the tracks on this collection did not sound as good as the ones I already had and some those I have compared appear to have been recorded with different backing and less attention to overall sound quality. Some seem to have been changed leaving the lower frequencies attenuated making it necessary to apply some boost which is something I do not normally do. Overall, my older versions have a fresher crisper sound to many of the tracks on this set but that is not unusual. There is no supporting information although the tracks are dated suggesting these are taken from original earlier recordings. I have no information to support or criticise this so a fair comment is that it is excellent value and a good set of his well known hits and possession of different versions has some benefits. There is one minor problem. I always rip the music into MP3 files to play in the car on long journeys but it seems that this collection is not listed on the sites which provide track information for this process.
