I took a beginner art class and this was perfect for that class. Easy to carry and sturdy.

Great quality. I have a huge tote sketchboard that I needed for when I had art classes, and we trained by sketching, drawing, etc., at the MFA. Needed that large size to haul my work around in the city, with my supplies.But I needed a small board for working here in the evening at home, on the couch, while chilling. Sketching, doodling, creating, journaling, coloring. I've been using this with my Moleskin large journals for a flat portable surface, and also with small projects.Perfect for coloring projects, too. No need for an art table when you just need a surface for downtime doodling.Someone mentioned that the carry handle interferes, I don't think so. The clip bar, as you can see, is perfectly situated to the side, so for small pieces of paper, there is plenty of room. If you need a larger board, size up. I needed a small board. (The picture no longer shows a tote handle, I am reviewing the tote handle 13 X 17 sketchboard.)Good size for portability. Great size for small projects. Excellent quality. Very happy purchase.

I've had this sketchboard for a while now and am really pleased with it. It holds the odd sized square coloring book pages like Secret Garden by Johanna Basford. It's very sturdy. Mine has fallen tons of times, even right on the corners and it's still fine. The handle makes it super easy to carry. The clip is easy to open, yet very sturdy and holds papers well. I stack 3-4 papers under whatever I'm coloring and the clip holds them tightly.I would recommend this item and will purchase it again should mine needs to be replaced down the road.

I paid around $8.50 for this product- and I'm giving it 4 stars based on the fact that I was not expecting a flawless high-quality or expensive looking product. For my art needs I simply wanted a large enough board to use for sketching and watercolors and this serves that purpose for me and meets my needs.The rubber band is wide, which I like and though the tension is not very high (it's not very tight around the board itself) it's snug enough to do the job. I tend to use one sheet of paper at a time but if you were to clip a pad to the board I see it serving you well. The material of the board is lightweight and truthfully a bit cheap feeling- but it's certainly a sturdy flat, and even surface. I like the handle provided, and my clip has a few sharp edges but as someone who is a grown adult, I am mindful of when I clip and unclip so I haven't had issues. I do plan to put some Sugru Moldable Glue (Pack of 8)on the center part of the clip where I notice sharp edges, I'm sure that will take care of things and also add a little personalization to the sketchboard.I think it's to my benefit that it's light weight and cheaper than what I spend on coffee and a bagel most mornings. If it should get lost I don't think I'll cry over it but I can see it serving me well. If your expectations are modest ones I think this would be an ideal purchase you can enjoy.

This is a very well priced and high quality drawing and sketching board! It fits every size up to 11x14 which is my biggest pad for now. I am only a beginner artist but i use this a lot as I don't have a fancy drawing table or any surface right now to lay my pads on. I lay in the bed and draw for the most part and it has made it much easier and a better line when drawing! I highly recommend.

This board has been perfect for my travel needs! I travel often and like doing my art work in the evenings while relaxing in the hotel. The board fits right on top of all my clothing in my med size suite case...it's almost the exact diameter to be honest and that I like a lot! The clip holds just like I need, the band is perfect as well. I have owned the larger one for doing paintings, but I use this mostly for drawing and love the ability to move it freely around when working from various angles. You could easily use it for painting within the measurements of course. If your traveling and want I take art projects with you, or create them out there...yep do it! And it's not like it's expensive. So worth it.

Perfect size and it is sturdy enough to sit in my lap and do my sketches. My art is typically on the smaller size and this is the perfect size to tape down my watercolor paper to start my paintings. My watercolor paper is 9"x12" for reference. The price is perfect for new artists with a low budget

Not practical for a 9x12 sheet since the left side of the paper would hang over the hole. One inch wider and it would be fine. Why would they do this? The construction, the clip and the runber band are well done.
