Love this book!
This is the 2nd book I’ve ordered with the same title. I loaned my first book to a friend and evidently she loved it as well. It was never returned, so I’ve gifted my original to her. We are both fans of Barbara and are still friends. My granddaughter and I love the pictures and the diagrams that are included in this book. Thank you Barbra Streisand for sharing with us a glimpse into your lifestyle.

Amazing Journey - Worth the read, yes, I said read!
Think J. Paul Getty, Randolph Hearst, Walt Disney. I read every word of this book and studied the pictures directed by text and captions. It was a journey of many years - an art project - that culminated in a thoughtful place of comfort and reflection big enough to house an enormous collection of exquisite mementos of a life well-earned and well-lived. I am not an Early American decor fan, but I understood Mrs. Brolin's attraction: her interest was in the history of our country, along with the artisans who had something to contribute through their craft, revealing what brought us to the present. The research was all part of the journey and part of the attraction of putting together the puzzle. She learned a great deal and that makes the ride worth the effort. She spent all of my lifetime and more honing her craft and bringing her talent into the lives of many. I loved the perfection of the scenes in her movies;the laughter, the tears and, yes, the beauty, all the more poignant. I have never seen or heard her in concert, but I listen to her while on my treadmill and it's better than the nosebleed section in a concert hall by far. She is in my head. Her music has spoken to me since losing my father (Poppa Can you Hear Me?), her love song to James Brolin (while my husband and I go through growing pains). Even when I didn't like the furnishings, I felt connected and I could see myself sitting on that blue couch with her enjoying the view and the roses, and the reasons why everything had a perfect place, with thoughtful placement. While I think to myself, "Gee, how many mouths could that one antique feed?", I also believe that Mrs. Brolin's views are wide enough to help others as she sees fit;I trust that. It is apparent that she can afford to build and house her legacy as she sees fit and I would trust that she does many philanthropic things we never hear about. It is no one's business to count her money for her or dictate how she spends it. Many people spend millions on therapy in an office on a couch. Some life journeys involve buying things on credit that one doesn't need, with money one does not have, to impress people one does not know, simply making Wall Street rich. Others, if they are fortunate, can find and reveal themselves and their personal growth in projects, at whatever scale. I enjoyed the book immensely and I went through it many times to understand the message, even after my dogs pulled it off the table and ate the last 10 pages. I learned that Perfection is a great aspiration when it doesn't get in your way or keep you from taking the first step, and it is okay to strive for it. Congratulations! Brava! And my great thanks for taking me along for the ride, inspiring me to stay on course and pursue my "projects".

A side of Barbra Streisand I never knew, and I love it!
I never knew a whole lot about Barbra Streisand only what you see in movies and that isn't always what tells you about who that person is. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this book and you really have to read it to understand it and Barbra. She just not a pretty face, she's got a decorator side to her that is as deep as the Grand Canyon. She inspired me to redo my sons bathroom in that awesome blue on the cover. Barbra opened my eyes to actually looking at color more than my artist eyes have in a long time. I enjoy her explanations of why, what, when and how about each item she obviously has purchased that touched her soul in some way. Her lovely rose garden looks as if it belongs at a palace in France. I eagerly read each sentence like a greedy kid eating candy. I whispered many a "wow" under my breath and then found myself staring at my own walls. I think Barbra is a very lucky and fortunate woman to be so talented not only in her career, but in writing, creativity and decorating. She is determined and very spot on when she creates and explains her ideas and even admits her mistakes and takes pictures of them! I recommend this book and if you are a person who wants to know the whys, hows, and wows...read this and then look at her pictures and you will understand and enjoy the eye candy.

A delicious and inspiring book
How I LOVE this book!! I have read and re-read this book, fascinated by the amount of work that went into creating it. It is simply delicious and compelling as one is caught between lingering over each beautifully photographed page and wanting to turn the page to see what stunning images await. Also how talented Barbra is in so many ways. She is the photographer, designer, organizer, manager, interior designer and writer of this book. She has told the story of how this home evolved over many years and her meticulous attention to each and every detail. A self admitted perfectionist, I can well imagine how difficult it must have been to work with her as her creative spirit must have had more changes than one could possibly imagine. But as one who has gone through the process of remodeling more than one home, I can so appreciate the process she went through as she created the very soul of this house... or should I say houses on this stunning Pacific Ocean property. She gave a personal look into her life and inspirations that have spanned decades as this property became what it is today. I highly recommend this book and know that it would make a most welcome gift to any fan of Barbra or someone who is fascinated with Home and Interior Design. It quickly became one of my most cherished books.

Gorgeous!
An absolute labour of love. There are laugh out loud moments due to Barbra's eccentricities, but it's incredibly endearing. Some of the decor is not to my taste but it's impressive how cohesive everything is and her attention to detail. Got some really good ideas for when I do my own home.

STUNNING
In my view one of the most talented Divas of all time who displays, in this book, her complete artistic nature. She is a Designer/Decorator, loves photography, loves bringing the outside in. She is an avid collector of remarkable antiques and various other collectors items. This book illustrates her unique talents and stunning interior and exterior concepts. It is a must have for any designer, aspiring designer and, of course, Streisand lovers.

Barbra triumphs again!
Very interesting read with beautiful pictures. Some of the interiors were interesting to see. Particularly the use of Rennie Macintosh and some beautiful Portraits. It gave me some inspiration on interior design ideas within my own home. A good buy.
