Beautiful Story for First Communicants
Little Nellie was born August 21, 1903 in Ireland. From the time she learned to talk she always spoke of "Holy God", yet no one knew where she learned this. When Little Nellie was three, her mother died and she went to live at a home run by the Good Shepherd Sisters. This book tells about her life at the home and her longing for Jesus. She was a very sick child, and Baby Jesus often visited her.The Bishop granted Little Nellie permission to receive Holy Communion when she was only four years and 3 months old. She died when she four years and five months old, and she had already received Communion 32 times. Pope Pius X heard of Little Nellie, how she had longed for Jesus, and how she lovingly received Him. He said this was the sign he had been waiting for and announced that children were to receive the Eucharist as soon as they reached the age of reason. In 31 short pages with simple illustrations the remarkable story of Little Nellie is delightfully told. This would be a great book for children preparing to receive the Eucharist.

Beautiful First Communion Preparation!
My son is making his Frst Communion this year, and it was such a joy to read this book with him! I love how they don't describe Nellie as a perfect angel, never having made a mistake. She was relatable to him, and he already wants to share this book with others! Highly recommended for other aged children as well!

This Little Girl is Awesome
This book will make you fall in love with this little girl! This is an easy to read book less than 100 pages. A very quick read but it will open your eyes to the awesome mystery of the Holy Eucharist and give you new appreciation for the wonderful gift that has been given to us. If this very young and tiny little girl who suffered so much can be so holy and close to God than why can't we?

Greaat for the whole family
We just couldn't put this book down- it is wonderful. My son will make his First Holy Communion in the spring, and this was a perfect part of his preparation. To hear about Little Nellie's love of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist inspired all of us to love Him more in the Eucharist, and to have more faith in His Real Presence. So that's priceless for anyone. Read it whether you have a child making First Holy Communion or not!

This story was read to me in my second grade ...
This story was read to me in my second grade class before receiving Holy Communion. As a child I could not remember any part of the story except how the little girl was so very young and wanted to receive Holy God. When I read this book, I am certain this is the story read to our class by a religious sister.

I was so happy I could obtain a new one and share it ...
I had this book when I was a young child and treasured it. Over the years, the book disappeared. I was so happy I could obtain a new one and share it with my 7 year old grandaughter.

Thank you God for Little Nellie
This little book is so great about a little girl beyond her years who addressed the Lord as holy Dod. She is so sweet a child to love God so young in life. It's a very good read. I gave this book to my second Cousin Julia for her First Holy Communion. So appropriate. Thank for a great copy. Mailed timely. Very pleased.

I recommend this book as a delightful and heart rending life ...
I recommend this book as a delightful and heart rending life story of a holy child in Ireland in the early 1900's. Little Nellie inspired Pope Pius the tenth to change the Church's rules on reception of the blessed sacrament for children. Nellie received the Eucharist at the age of 4, a few moths before she died. Her faith and insight in to the real presence of God in the Blessed Sacrament is inspirational.
