Dakine Heli Pro Backpack - 20 Liter

It's made for skiers but it's got plenty of room and features for day hikers, which is what I do. It holds my 3L hydration pack; it's got well-hidden port at the top where you route the hose thru. I do miss the side pocket that my Heli 24L has but that's a minor quibble. Caution - it's about 2 pounds, quite heavy.

I bought this pack having never actually layed hands on one, and I NEVER do that. I used to be a manager in camping retail, guide, and a scout leader and I am getting back into scouting and hiking with my kids. I needed a really narrow profile pack with a hipbelt that is bigger than some of the hydration packs, but smaller than my 2,000+ plus internal packs. The quality is excellent easily on par with my Gregory Mountain Products, The North Face, and Eagle Creek packs. I am 5'10", but have a hard time fitting packs due my short torso and it fit well enough. I completely overloaded it for a six mile hike and it was the most comfortable small pack I have used. Pocket and zippers are all well thought out and provide a a lot of options as to how to use the pack. The pack is designed first and foremost for snowboard/ski use, so my only complaints come from designs that are of benefit to to snowboarder: too many little straps and clips to hold boards in a variety of configurations, and the padded hipbelt does not extend more than a few inches and the web strap is a 1" strap. I would have liked the padding to extend all the way and have a 2" webbing, but I did buy a snowboarding pack so it is not a mistake on their part. Do I recommend it? I love all of the features of this backpack. It's perfect for school and snowboarding, the hydration pocket works as a laptop sleeve, it's roomy inside for books, all the straps keep it secure for skating to class. It is pricey, but well worth it in my opinion. The sportsman pattern is great as well, I get compliments on this backpack all the time.

Just received this backpack and I do love my Dakine products a lot as I already have a ton. I can't really tell how my snowboard would actually fit in this pack as others have stated they have carried it on here, but maybe I'll figure it out. Needs to be broken in a bit but otherwise looks like a solid pack for riding. I'll be using this to travel next month, but mainly will be used for snowboarding this next season. Love the color the orange is more of a burnt orange color for the zipper and buckles, but overall looks great. It has a lifetime warranty and never have had to use that yet with Dakine, but that's always a plus. The straps are pretty solid and very comfortable as well from what I can tell and noticed when I put it on today. Super fast shipping (gotta love Prime) and came well packaged even with the rain storm we had today. Go buy one, you won't regret it!

This is a great day pack for the fast & light traveller. There's enough room for the essentials like snacks & water, & there's also dedicated space for a shovel & probe. The fleece lined goggle area is great for glasses, goggles, or even a small bottle of water (I'm done with bladder reservoirs). My main reason for purchasing this pack is the ergonomics; it carries the load relatively flat & vertical & offers just enough space for what you need (not what you think you need). The shoulder straps could be softer face material as the abrasive wear will rapidly destroy your jacket. The sternum strap vertical adjustment is a bit finicky & will probably break under load. This pack is amazing compared to what I was using previously, so I'm satisfied.

I bought this backpack to use for college. I don't carry more than one book and my laptop at a time, so this pack works perfectly. If you want more storage than what will hold a laptop, (2) 1" ring binders, a few spirals, pens/pencils, a calculator, a wireless mouse, and the occasional laptop charger, you're in the wrong place. The primary reason I like this pack is due to the way I get to and around campus. Most people don't like the waist straps that come on some backpacks. (The Texas A&M campus is ginormous) However when biking to and from campus, these straps help seat the backpack and keep it from swinging to one side. Quality is also superb. (Well sewn. Thick material. Heavy zippers. Hefty clips.) All in all, a very good quality, good looking, backpack that gets me comfortably to and from campus.

I’ve had this bag as long as the title states.. goin on 10 years and not just using but absolutely abusing this thing as an outdoor adventures guide. It’s been on more snowmobile trips, side by sides, and canyon adventures than most people will in their lifetimes.. mostly during work season as a guide pack and doubles down as my travel backpack during off-season.Slight fading in the black, all straps and zippers still in great working condition with only one small separation in the stitching this past winter.10/10 recommend

This is a very comfortable backpack. The chest & waist straps distribute the weight of my hiking gear. I highly recommend this backpack for day hikers.

Thought the 20L may have been a bit small, but it's turned out to be perfect for a day on the mountain. Love this brand as it's so well made.
