Q: Will this work with radiant ceiling heat?

I use it with radiant floor heat; no problem . I placed the thermostats on the coldest corners of each room where we get the least solar gain and they work fine .

Q: Can it be set to a minimum default temperature setting that’s higher than 40 degrees? Like 55 degrees default minimum? Thanks in advance for any advic

I set mine at 55 to 60 deg. For my garage floor.

Q: Honeywell th1100dv1000 pro-digital 2-wire heat only - what happens if the batteries fail? does the thermostat stop functioning completely?

It warns of low battery prior to totally stop functioning.

Q: Is there not 3 wires? A red, black and white.

Two wires. This is a heat only unit
