I really wanted this to work as well as the description claims, but it does not. It does not have a complete seal at the top, so bugs and dirt get inside quite easily and this raises the water temperature. It does not hold the cold ice water temperature down longer than just one day. I live in Northern California where it does not get too hot very often. Even during the colder months, I have to refill with ice (4 16lb bags at a minimum each time) every day if I want to use it everyday. I was hoping because it's so expensive, it would keep the temperature down longer. It does not. I waited a few months while researching to buy this. I read a lot of reviews. It's not at all worth the money given that it does not have a good seal and doesn't retain the cold temperature. Physically it works well. It's a good size and the steps are good. But I could have made my own for 10% of the price that has a proper lid seal and kept the cold water colder longer.

A lot of maintenance required for the price, better off getting a trough or bin for a fraction of the cost.

The ice barrel is nothing more than an overpriced plastic barrel. It is not insulated at all and will not maintain cold water. You are better off with buying a large trash can, it will be insulated better than this barrel.

My wife and I are very pleased with the purchase of the Ice Barrel, very easy to get out of the box and fill with ice and water. My wife was a little too skeptical at the beginning (as Latin women are :/ ) but, after she tried it, we felt energized and stronger. Please stop hesitating and do your purchase. Goodbye
