Excellent product - completely satisfied
I had the old heated water bowls, which required unplugging and toting inside to clean and refill. I have raccoons fouling my outdoor cats' bowls, so I have to change the water frequently. Those wire-wrapped cords are stiff and difficult to deal with, and inevitably I would spill some water. With these bowls, you can just lift them out of the unit. No unplugging, no snaky cords. And this cord, although also wire-wrapped, is more flexible than the heated bowls I was using, which makes it easier to deal with if you do have to move the unit. I also much prefer the stainless steel bowls to the plastic ones I was using. And better yet, it's not just for water but it also keeps food from freezing. Brilliant!I agree with other reviewers that the food bowl is somewhat small, so I use the Corelle 10-ounce bowls I normally feed with. They work just fine. They rock a little, since they aren't fitted to the opening, but the cats don't seem to mind. The water never freezes. Depending on the ambient temperature, sometimes it's chilly, sometimes it's slightly warm, but it's always drinkable. Our temperatures have been ranging from around zero to the 40's this winter, and the water is always fine for the cats. If it's well above freezing, I also put out water in non-heated bowls in case the cats find the heated water too warm. The food doesn't freeze either. One reviewer complained that the food got too hot and cooked. I never had anything like that happen, maybe because the bowls I use sit a little higher in the unit. Of course the food does dry out and get unpleasant when it's been sitting out for awhile, maybe more so in the heater unit. (Which is when the raccoons and opossums come in handy - excellent garbage disposals.)To sum up, I'm delighted with the Thermo-Kitty Cafe Bowl. I got two of them (for the front and back porches) and I recommend them to anybody who is feeding outdoor cats.

Exceeded all our expectations
We can't be happier with this purchase. We live in Montana so we are accustomed to long, cold winters. We have a newly acquired outdoor cat who prefers to remain an outdoor cat, regardless of weather conditions. After unsuccessfully trying to locate a heated water bowl for our kitty at several stores, we decided to turn to Amazon and we weren't disappointed. Having the food bowl is just a bonus! This product exceeds our expectations in almost every way possible.* The whole unit is very high quality. The plastic is durable, the bowls are a nice size and super handy because they're removable. The entire unit is also a nice size. We needed something to fit in the dog...er...cat house and this is perfect!* It keeps things defrosted without over heating them which is nice because I don't feel like it's wasting power.* The cord seems to be extremely high quality and encased in a steel spring...for lack of a better description. I don't worry about leaving this unit out in the weather, plugged in to my house.* This unit is perfect if you have outdoor cats but want to make sure they're taking in adequate liquids...or you are at least providing adequate liquids during the winter. The only negative we could think of is that if you live in an extremely windy place...like most of Montana...the unit might try to blow away if left out in the open. But then again...the wind here blows over semi trucks so I guess that's not really saying much?!? We would just suggest putting it in a location protected from the wind if you live in a stupidly windy place like we do.If you are like me and live in a very cold state and have outdoor cats, I highly suggest purchasing this unit and giving it a go. I feel like we can give Tiger's stamp of approval :-)

Working in the BLIZZARD! And in -9F!!!!! Update: 1/7/17- One Year and Still Working!!!!
I ordered this heated double cat bowl a week ago. I live in Connecticut and our Winters can be quite cold. We have an outdoor feral cat that we have fed for many years. You cannot get within 5 feet of him but he will eat on our open stairs. I put this heated feeder out just in time for our weather to get very cold. Today we are under a blizzard warning, we are expecting at least a foot of snow with a lot of blowing snow and drifting. Normally our cat food and water would be totally frozen and have inches of snow on it. I would have to dig out the bowls after the storm. I opened the door to see how the heated bowl was doing and wanted to share this picture. It is perfect. As you can see it is still snowing as this is just the beginning of the storm. I would highly recommend this heated cat dish to anyone who has to feed in cold weather. Food and water is useless if it is frozen and the animal can't get at it. Wish I had bought it sooner. Be aware that if the weather gets warmer it may dry out the food a bit. Also, some people have complained of a smell, that will go away in a few days. A replacement bowl would be great! By the way, I am using this on an open porch outside. I also use the large bowl for food and the small one for water. Cat's just don't drink that much. I also mix a little water into the wet food to prevent it from drying out a bit. I added two pictures of our guy after them storm. I will worry just a little less about him going hungry now. Hope this was helpful to you.Update: I have had our Thermo-Kitty Cafe for a few weeks. Today our temps in CT went down to 9 below zero Fahrenheit. It was so cold that my hand froze to the doorknob before I could close it but the water was totally open in the food bowl and the food was not frozen. I have been adding extra water to the wet food as it is cold and dry and the food will dry out but adding water to it solves it. A little broth is good, too, as it has more nutrition.Three month update: Winter is over and I washed up the kitty cafe and packed it up for the Spring. It worked very well in an exposed porch for three months. I never had to worry that our little feral guy would have frozen food. I have also purchased four K&H heated pet beds for our indoor dogs and cat. I highly recommend this company.1 Year Update- 1/7/17- took the kitty cafe out of storage in November. It is still working great. The outdoor cats are really using the smaller water bowl also as it is below freezing on many days.

So far, amazing!
I bought this bowl warmer because we feed several feral cats and with our ridiculously cold and relentless winter this year, the water we were putting out was freezing into solid pucks within 45 mins or less. I have used the bowl warmer for about 48 hours now. We left it on overnight last night and it was -16C (-29C with windchill). When I went out this morning to put fresh water in, I wasn't sure how the bowl warmer would withstand the brutal windchill. Not to worry!! The water was lukewarm!!!!! PHENOMENAL!Another great thing about this bowl warmer is that because the bowls are stainless steel and removable, you can pull them out and quickly wash them and replace them, without having to unplug the entire warmer and bring it inside. This is super-convenient. Unlike the plastic bowl warmers out there, they also will not crack in extreme cold, which is a genuine concern in places with really bad winters. The only thing I noticed was that the smaller bowl had almost no water left in it. I don't know if this is because the heat from the warmer led the water to evaporate, or if we had extra nocturnal visitors that were really thirsty (squirrels, raccoons, other cats?). This is something to be careful of though, because I imagine if the bowl were to remain empty for too long while being heated, there would be potential for burning or melting.Other than that, I'm extremely impressed with this product. Strongly recommend purchasing via amazon at $43 price point as it is $79 on the manufacturer's own website! Should anything change I will update this review.

Fantastic product - happy cats!!!!!
I am absolutely thrilled with this product, as I am sure is every cat in the neighborhood, being able to come for water any time of the day or night!! I wasn't sure how it would do when it got really cold but it was -19c last night and no problem.I usually have a container that I would keep adding water to, knowing it would freeze within minutes, then have to bring it in and take out the frozen block of ice and start over again. This dish has made it all much easier, add some water in the morning and at night and I don't have to worry that therewas a cat that showed up too late to an iceblock and was dehydrated because there was no access to water anywhere.

Incredible buy!! Highly recommend!!
Totally awesome heated dish! Works perfectly in -30C weather. I agree with previous comments about mixing a bit of water in the soft food to keep it moister for the duration on the night. So happy to have purchased this product for the two feral cats I have feeding in my yard. The water does not freeze ...and the cats can eat the soft food even on the coldest of nights. Excellent product ...very well made. It's especially nice that the metal dishes are removable as it makes it very easy to keep everything clean and fresh. Would highly recommend it to anyone who has furry little creatures outside enduring the brutal and cold North American winters! Thank you K&H for making this product as there's nothing else out there like it! It's a must have for anyone with outdoor cats!

GREAT Product to use if you feed outdoor animals. 10 of 10!!!
What a great item. I feed ferrel cats and always had to sit out the window watching for them as the food would freeze so quick. The bowls are a good size, I put water in one bowl and moist canned cat food and for the most part it keeps it warm. On the really cold nights it does tend to get a little cold and the top will be dried out. STILL THE BEST ITEM I EVER BOUGHT for those poor animals in the cold weather. I will be buying anorther one as jt was well worth the money for me.

Excellent product for our fur friends
This unit works really well. I have it in the garage and have been feeding a feral cat for a couple years. Glad to report the cat isn't feral any more. I found that the dish where the tinned food goes would give off a plastic smell and I felt that it was keeping the food a bit too warm so I often put a pottery bowl in the insert instead. I use the larger bowl for the water and it's great. I still use the metal bowl for the food and as well as my pottery one. I love that the cord has a metal protective coil wrapped around it for the first 2 1/2" feet or so close to the bowl which protects it from chewing or damage.
