Do you or your clients struggle with shame? If so, this book is a boon to you and your clients.
This book is the definitive guide to understanding the science underpinning the theory and practice of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I can remember being back in graduate school learning about shame and thinking that the current models for understanding this complex subject seemed to lack the fundamental ingredients necessary to help those who are shame prone. For me, CFT is the answer. This book provides an overview of the theory (first few chapters) and how it was developed by Professor Paul Gilbert, OBE. The book covers the direct application of interventions to help shame-prone people understand they have "multi-minds" and learn how to stimulate a caring motive that allows them (us) to have access to our compassionate minds. We then have access to resources like wisdom and courage to help us work out what would be most helpful to our often agonizing in-the-moment suffering. I cannot recommend this book enough. The book also has chapters edited by world-renown CFT researchers and clinicians who provide excellent guidance regarding certain mental health difficulties like anxiety, anger, and complex PTSD using CFT. This book is suitable for students, beginning therapists, and highly experienced clinicians.-Matthew Porte,- MSW, LCSW

Poor printing quality
The first copy came damaged with a pink line down the edge and a folded cover, this replacement has poor printing quality, making certain pages impossible to read. The book itself is great, perfect for therapists.
