Needs careful assembly, may need some tweaking but a pleasure after
Beautiful addition to my home office. This roomy lateral file and the Freedom Filer filing system mean my paper clutter issues are behind me.It's heavy when it arrives so if your final location needs stairs, I strongly recommend getting the delivery service. Assembly service via TaskRabbit is also recommended though I didn't use it.Assembly is long and prone to errors so be very careful. When it arrives, make sure to look for the name label for each piece and mark them all. The labels are not the same; some are stickers, some stamped into the side of the wood and some don't have any label at all. Spend time upfront to understand and make sure you know how the entire thing will be put together and where each piece will go. It took me 4 hours to assemble and I did have a few issues with it after. The top wooden piece doesn't sit flat on supports because the supports assembly is a bit wonky (the screw holes seem to be slightly off). Also, the two drawers are different so make sure you put them in the right slots. After assembling, my top drawer kept rubbing against the bottom drawer front-plate and occasionally wouldn't even go in without lifting or pushing the lower drawer down. I took both drawers out and realized that the Sauder cam bolts weren't sitting completely snugly in the shelves. I pushed them in, they kept bouncing back out but finally managed to make them stay put and now my drawers roll, open and close smoothly. The filing itself is pure pleasure. Plenty of space. Adjustable for letter and legal file folders. I'm transitioning away from binders and using hanging files and manila folders is such a relief and makes filing and looking for stuff a breeze and even enjoyable. I recommend looking into the Freedom Filer system that is self-purging so you keep automatically cleaning out old papers as they age out and get replaced by new ones. The cabinet itself is a stunner with the shiplap front panels adding a nice touch of class. Not being metal means it just keeps the look of my home office classy. And the nice depth means I can use it to keep my printer and scanner on top. Perfect and highly recommended once you get past the assembly issues.

Beautiful and very sturdy... Instructions also made me laugh
Well after months of resisting being told to work from home (I do better in my office). I finally was convinced it would be in my best interest to work from home despite my concerns. What this mean is that most desks were picked over and would take forever to arrive. I had planned on setting up a home office next year for my side business but this accelerated that need. I wanted furniture that was not also nice to look at but was going to last. I settled on this specific filing cabinet after a lot of research. I am a therapist so I need to have a solid filing cabinet to be compliant with HIPAA requirements but I didn’t want one of those large ugly metal filing cabinets just to it wasn’t easy to steal when I only really needed on small drawer that locked to keep my patient files secure. I had originally intended to buy a desk with a locking drawer but was struggling to find something that would meet my needs so I decided to get the complete Sauder Costa office set.I have only put together this filing cabinet and I have to say, it is everything it claims to be. Solid, heavy (no one can run off with it), beautiful and exactly what I need. Assembly was fairly easy and the directions are super easy to follow. I assembled it by myself with no issues.I also want to mention the directions... putting together furniture is not always the most fun thing in the world so I have to say I really appreciate the sarcastic/funny comments spread throughout the instruction manual. I got a good chuckle several times throughout the process of assembly. I wont spoil the fun, you’ll have to make your own purchase to see what I am talking about. But I cant wait to assemble the other pieces this weekend to see what other hilarious things the people at Sauder have come up with.

I had my doubts...
I had a hard time believing something this heavy would ever have a chance of making it to my doorstep without some shipping carrier putting their foot through one panel or running over a corner with their truck. Surprisingly, it got here in one piece with no signs of tire marks or cracked pieces.Assembly took some time. You'll definitely want a good bit of floor space to be able to spread all of the pieces out so you can keep track of all the different pieces. Mine were not labeled in consistent locations so you had to sort of go hunting to find the marked letter on some of the pieces. Overall, I'd say I spent a solid hour putting the thing together. The instructions were pretty decent and easy enough to follow, and when they weren't you could still pretty much figure out what needed to be done because there aren't a lot of similar pieces that you could confuse.Overall it is pretty sturdy and feels like something you would buy pre-built at an office furniture store. I miss the days of furniture being made from real wood and finishes and not particle board and laser printed veneer, but Sauder does their best to make it look and feel as close to solid wood as they can. I'm not sure if it has the ability to last for 10 years like my last filing cabinet, but I feel pretty safe saying I won't need to buy another one for at least the next 3-4 years.

Great quality...awesome price for it!
I so happy with this purchase. I wanted a file cabinet to hide all our bills and documents and get rid of a horribly ugly 4 drawer cabinet. Gorgeous beachy distress looking finish. This peice is heavy particle board with a thick nice laminated finish. I'm not a huge fan of laminated furniture, but this is a very good qualility cabinet. If you are extremely patient and very mechanical it will take 4 hours to assemble. You can do it with on person, but at times it is helpful to have husband (in my case) or someone to assist in repositioning the peice to start a new part of the assembly. All hardware was there. I will say pay attention to the directions when installing the interior anti-tipping lock assembly. All said this is a great price for this nice cabinet. LOVE IT! More than exceeded my expectations.
