Spam - The Cookbook Paperback – September 22, 2009

Bought this for a friend as a joke,cause he likes spam,and he like the book of history.

Spam the cookbook is a really delightful read with excellent recipes that use Spam. During the 2nd world war Spam and frozen concentrated orange juice from the United States were real treats in the UK. At the same time, American soldiers who were accustomed to a much more varied diet back home came up with many disparaging names and poems for spam. And then there is the Monte Python skit about the diner that sells everything it makes with generous helpings of spam along with what is ordered. The author addresses the time, zeitgeist, and history that spawned the Spam skit. This little gem of a books includes the history of Spam, how it got it's name, and recipes from around the world. I love this little book. It really has a bunch of tasty recipes: Spam kebabs, Hawaiian Spam, deep Spam Pizza and many more.

Good cookbook for someone who grew up eating Spam. Very versatile product for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Good additional information about the background of Spam also. I would guess that soldiers from the world wars would already be familiar. Certainly helped bring them needed protein. Try a can, worth a try. You may end up like me always having a can in my larder for surprise visits (before covid). Everyone I made a stir fry or fried rice with Spam really liked it.

Nice book but to much jibber jabber not enuff recipes

Full of great Spam facts, history and recipies.Bought this cook book as part of a White Elephant gift exchange, to go with the can of actual Spam of course. Both were a great success! Thank you to the the Hormel Company for creating such a culinary treat!Thank you also to the creators of this cookbook and, to the person who went home with it, may it serve as a template to #winning at dinner parties.

I THINK SPAM WAS CREATED TO FEED OUR TROOPS DURING WORLD WAR TWO. SOMEHOW THE HAWIANS CAUGHT ON TO THIS PRODUCT AND ARE THE WORLD LARGEST USERS OF SPAM. WE JUST GOT THE COOK BOOK FOR SPAM. NEVER KNEW THERE WERE SO MANY WAYS TO USE SPAM.

This little gem is just the sort of cookbook I enjoy having in my cookbook collection. It's very informative so far as the history of Spam goes. And the recipes? Someone put their thinking cap of creativity on to create these recipes, and compile them in a book. The pictures only add to the overall book for a complete delight. Can I call Spam Americana? I think that's exactly what you get with this book. A bit of Americana.

I wanted a COMPLETE cookbook. This tells the history of SPAM. Then recipes r 1/3 of the book, but the book is well written and fun to read. Lots of pictures. I read some interesting things of how it became so popular. Did u know it is big in ENGLAND? Read why.....
