Comfortable light weight retro helmet
Comfortable light weight helmet with a cool retro look. Fit my head perfect! But doesn't come with adjustable inner straps so measure your head before purchase. Also came with an extra set of inner pads when originals get worn out. Fair price, happy with the purchase.

Adjusted Perfectly to My Head
Feels sturdy & safe without the weight of older Nutcase. I find it attractive & easily keep it on in stores & with friends sometimes without being overly self-conscious.

Great value, simple aesthetic
Very satisfied with this helmet. I wanted a skate helmet, but those can get heavy. The shell is reasonably strong plastic, although I wish it were softer to touch. It scuffs pretty easily, but I think this style of helmet looks better worn. Colors are simple but appealing. I like the way the back looks, dropping straight down, lower than the front. I'm not sure if it's a safety thing, but it definitely helps with visibility. The entire rim is lined with rubber or silicone, and there are small rubber nubs on the side to reduce harsh impacts. I am right in the middle for the range of the size I bought, and I do not experience any shifting around while riding. This is especially nice since it's still big enough enough to wear with a (thin) beanie. Those towards the upper end of the range for their size may not be able to do so, but it is snug either way. The cushion inserts are meh but dont shift around and have reasonable quality velcro. I appreciate that it comes with an extra set, especially at this price. The chin strap is both well designed to not tangle and modestly comfortable. I really appreciate the removable chin guard, which adds comfort while leaving adjusting the strap still pretty easy to adjust. The straps don't get in the way of my ears, even when I wear glasses and earbuds. Ventilation is good but not spectacular. Definitely better than most skate helmets I've tried, but not quite as good as the best biking ones. Protection I assume is good; I've taken only a few minor spills with no contact between my head and any surfaces, but I am confident because it did not shift in the slightest even after eating it. If I die while wearing this, I promise to come back and update this to 0 stars. But given the price, this is a great deal. Good, if not great at everything, and fantastic value.

Finally, it fits!
This is just about perfect. Almost. I originally purchased the adult small. Which is far too large, for my 20.5 inch head. The black helmet pictured is the Retrospect youth/child’s helmet. I was seriously looking for a brighter more safety conscious color. Small is still too large. Those are. My “cons” up front. The colors available are dull, and “un-noticeable”, I feel helmet manufacturers need to provide some serious bright colors for those of us who want them.Upon receiving this helmet I promptly removed the ghastly plastic adjustment device. Which is held in place by four snaps. I originally bought the adult version of this helmet, because it is a stripped down, awesome helmet, throwback style from the 80’s. Perfect, no added newfangled adjusters, lights or magnetic buckles. It took a LONG time to find such a beauty. But, find it I did!I DO NOT RECOMMEND doing what I did, by stripping the adjustment device from this helmet, but in my case it was the right thing to do. This is not recommended by the manufacturer of this helmet.I’m 69 years old, and love to have fun, and stay safe while doing so. Why did I choose this helmet? Read on.After all is said and done, in spite of the fact the colors offered, do not include safety colors, this had everything else I wanted in a helmet. I have a very small head, small is too big. This is a very well constructed, sturdy nice looking helmet. I love the retro look. I wanted a helmet similar to what I used to own in the 70’s when I rode my Honda’s. I’m not fond of the frills, lights that require batteries or charging, nor was I looking for some clunky twist knob, required to make it fit. The knob takes up helmet space that could be covering your head. I love the straps. They are sharp looking and appropriately placed. High quality webbing is used, that is very comfy.I love how this covers more of my head than all the previous bike helmets I have owned. But the last helmet I bought was 29 years ago. I decided new was the way to go. Other helmets seem to sit high over the ears, & the back of the head is sorely exposed, many do not offer enough coverage for the sides of your head, this is the best I could find in the price range I was looking for, short of buying a genuine motorcycle helmet. The coverage seems above average, and one of the main reasons for purchasing this helmet. Now I feel muchDon’t be fooled by the name brand “Thousand”. They are very similar in looks, but this helmet lacks a helmet lock hole, which is another hole I can do without, less is more in my book.. Retrospect lacks the “replacement if you get in an accident”, that Thousand offers. The straps on Retrospect aren’t like the fixed in place straps of the Thousand, Retrospect got it right on this point, the straps are fully flexible. There are less vent holes, in Retrospect, but in my opinion that may be a plus. I don’t feel as safe in a helmet full of holes, (Holes weaken a structure.) yet another reason I went with this retro look, less holes. All in all, I feel I made a good purchase. I watched Amazon change the price point several times, finally I just hit “buy”, rather than holding my breath waiting for the price to drop. But this was a very good price point for this helmet. Some things that one might take into consideration before purchasing, are the fact that this helmet doesn’t have an adjuster to make a helmet fit, that doesn’t fit, (I certainly don’t want my helmet held on by a thin plastic piece that can shatter in an accident, but there are those who really like this sort of thing. It doesn’t have lights, am magnetic buckle, or a helmet lock hole. So if you are like me, and believe less is more, you found your helmet. It’s the best I could get for the amount I could spend, it’s not my first choice. It gets four stars because of the sturdiness. Very sturdy. The design, looks, & strap design are fantastic. It’s lacking a star because of color choices, sizing, and warranty. It also has a “State of California cancer warning”. I hope my review will help someone make an informed decision.
