While I do love the richness of this stain, it came out much darker than anticipated. So, though I'll be ordering a lighter stain (Amazon does not do returns on stains), I'll be saving this one for another project. If you're using a softer wood (or mystery wood like I am) you may need to base your decision on the darker grains in the pictures.It truly has no chemical odor. I'm using this for a crib, so safety is top priority. I'll likely finish with their Pureshield Protect in satin (they included a sample with my last order & I'm a fan).

Tried the sample, it left more lap marks on the wood than some others I have used.

I had a small project where I needed the pine (a soft wood) frames I made for vintage plates to accept the stain well enough to sand the paint and show through. This stain penetrated the wood deeply with two coats. If I had sanded appropriately and used it as a stain; then ran a clear coat finish afterwards I know it would have been very beautiful.

Used two coats of Rich Red stain on these coasters for presents. Covered with spar polyurethane for water protection.

Everything was great. The package arrived a few days early, almost everything was recyclable and it held up perfectly. The instructions were clear, concise, and included pictures. The stain is gorgeous and worked perfectly as expected. A+ product. They even included a little bonus tube of sealer I'm excited to figure out where to use.

Used to fix a used 1993 guitar I just got where the clear coat had chipped off and removed the thin stain on it, I sanded it down, cleared the clear coat around it, sanded more, then stained it and it matches perfectly, all I need to do now is put a lot of clear varnish on it and sand it down and Polish it and it should look better than it has in 20 years. They included a free vial of satin protective coating too which was very nice and helpful to make the area look even less out of place or just like it was never there. Do recommend

Ok , hate to be a Debbie downer ; but ------- I was a bit taken aback by the color when it dried .It was a almost hot pink red when wet (iridescent mercurochrome in spots) I shook it well . Came in a tough ( though ) plastic bag with a screw capped pour spout .The spots came to the surface as some areas would dry . Not happy , bought barn red to redo finish color , but now has taken about a week to dry , the two are somewhat at odds . Trying it this way first , might have to sand the really big exterior door , not sure yet . Hope it dries ok though . Lol but not , oh well , win some lose some . But it's cost is not an insurance to out come .

I recently bought a major brand stain for a small restaining project and though I am sure people who work with that brand say it works well, I could not stand it...I smelled it for a whole month on the furniture. That is with letting it all air out on a balcony for weeks! I HAD to find a LOW VOC stain, but my local hardware store said they don't carry them because of quality, so I ordered here. It came faster then expected and I used it today to my delight. I do not see any quality issue-it works well and had NO SMELL! I got some on my skin and it didn't irritate me and washed fairly easily. The packaging was eco-friendly, small and there was a free sample inside of another product. Great company that I wish the best to. P.S. The LAVA color is beautiful, though I wish it was almost as red as the fluid is when applied and dried.
