The mute reduces the sound level stunningly. Seems to add a warmer sound also. My wife will be happy.

These things seem to add warmth to my RK R35, giving it an almost acoustic sound. They do take the volume down a bit, but it's no where near silent. I'd buy it just for the cool tone if nothing else.

I got this mute really fast, in only 2 days after ordering, so i was happy to begin with. I ordered the mute so as to quite my banjo playing as i am a nightowl and will keep other people in my house up late into the night with my picking. The mute was easily installed onto my deering 5-string banjo bridge and i noticed the change right away. The sound of the banjo was reduced from 25-50%. It mostly cut down on the resonation of the sound, while the pluck was still audible. It works kind of like a straight mute on a trumpet, as not only was the sound softer, but it was also changed to be more twangy, which i think is a plus for me. I use a closed back banjo, but if you have an open-back banjo, you could use this mute in conjunction with a towel stuck in the chamber to really cut down on the volume. Ultimately, it is a very good mute that does its job relatively well.

I have an Ibanez b200. With the resonator, this thing is super bright. Its great for a jam sessions. I am louder than the amplified instruments. For practice though, I like to mute the overall volume. I feel like I can tune in to my technique better. If I don't hit a string perfect, my mistake isn't drowned out by the overall volume. I can hear the string rattling against my finger and correct.

Works great as a mute but the felt glue already came off after about a week of use :(

I came across this device while searching for something else and bought it for the potential benefit to non banjo players in the house. It is easy to fit & remove and dampens the sound remarkably well.

Works great on Gold Tone Cripple Creek series banjos. Easy to slide it in and out the bridge. It does dampen the sound but preserves the sound quality.

Cette sourdine pour banjo est très efficace sachant que le banjo est un instrument puissant. Je la recommande pour jouer à volonté sans gêner ses voisins ou ses proches.

Also ich muss gestehen, ich war schon ziemlich misstrauisch, ob das kleine Ding wirklich ein lautes 5-String Resonatorbanjo zum schweigen bringen kann. Ist ja kaum mehr als eine Spange aus dickerem Messingblech, dazwischen ist ein grobes Kunstofffilz.Aber, sieh da, es wirkt tatsächlich. Einfach einen Millimeter unter die Saiten (vorsichtig) auf die Brücke schieben und schon ist das Banjo auf Zimmerlautstärke.Von der Klangfarbe ist zwar nicht mehr viel übrig, aber dieses Teil ist ja auch nur als vorübergehendes Accessoire gedacht. Damit kann man also prima schwierige Passagen wieder und wieder spielen. Ohne dass den Familienmitgliedern die Ohren abfaulen. Oder mal kräftig clawhammern ohne dass sich gleich die Nachbarn beschweren.Zu empfehlen !
