Great product!
I have French doors that were never really secure before buying the Nightlock. With that being said the Nightlock only secured the bottom portion of the door. The top portion of my door still had some wobble when pushed. I watched a YouTube video of someone That combined a Nightlock with a Door Guardian so I gave it a try. I was more than happy. I highly recommend buying the Nightlock and Door Guardian as a pair if you have French Doors. My front door now is incredibly secure.Super easy to install and use.Great quality and it looks classy.

These puppies are the real deal
I also purchased a Lockdown 1 unit directly from Nightlock, who by the way are great folks and very easy to deal with. Both the Nightlock Original and the Lockdown 1 are great units - rugged, sensibly designed, nonobtrusive, yet more than adequate to do the job that they're intended for. Because I was installing it on a ceramic tile floor, I opted to go with the Nightlock Original because I didn’t want to have to deal with cutting out the large diameter hole that the Lockdown 1 would have required. Either unit though would have worked nicely. Drilling through the tile was definitely the hardest part of the install. I did replace the #14 x 2" flat head phillips wood screws provided by Nightlock with #14 x 3" flat head phillips SS screws, purchased here at Amazon, so that I could add an additional 1" of plywood backing glued to the underside of the flooring between the joists in the basement. If your door does its part structurally, these Nightlocks will do theirs. Nothing will prevent a determined criminal from getting in, but he or they would have to be very determined, as these locks will slow them down considerably and ensure that they make a lot of noise and commotion trying to gain entry.

Very Secure Lock - Especially for french doors!
I have a french door arrangement in the front of my home, and because these two doors meet in the middle, "Kick Ins" are quite easy. This lock placed in front of both doors where they meet in the middle gives us a great feeling of security when we are sleeping. It is very strongly made, and easy to install. Mine is mounted on a hardwood floor. MAKE SURE you measure the clearance between your door and the floor. You MUST have 1/2 inch of clearance to mount the lock properly. The seller is very responsive, so if you have any questions, e-mail the seller and they will reply promptly. I actually ordered two, but I had to return one BECAUSE of this clearance problem with my side garage door. However, the return was easy, and my account was promptly credited. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LOCK!!

Piece of mind
We have a wonky double front door. Sturdy but certainly not "kick-in" proof. We just slide this over on the way to bed and we feel much better. Easy to install although, I should have taken the instructions at their word when they said use a diamond bit for porcelain tile. I used three concrete bits (one per hole) to install, and it was brutal. Porcelain is dense and tough!! Just a heads up. Great product!!

Nightlock Security Lock Brass Finish
Great concept and looks good. Lots of piece of mind having it on our front door while we sleep!I did have to trim a strip off of the bottom of my door to accommodate the floor plate though. This was not a big issue for me as I'm handy with tools, but it could be disappointing and frustrating for those that buy this expecting it to just screw on and fit the first time. The floor plate height is 7/16", so, I would recommend that you find a piece of scrap plywood that thick, attach it to the floor with some double sided tape and try opening your door to see if the bottom of the door (with the weather stripping or sweep) will be able to pass over the test plywood to see if you will need to trim the door bottom.Funny thing, about one month after installing it, a drunk woman began shouldering and kicking my front door at 2am trying to get in! Seemed that a bit too much alcohol confused her and she got her streets mixed up. Although the regular lock prevented her from getting in, it was reassuring that the door brace was in place and ready to make sure she didn't make entry.

I highly recommend the Nightlock door barricade as an effective and inexpensive security upgrade. Installation and use are excellent. Quality appears good. A most excellent security upgrade, for the $40 price. The similar OnGARD door barricade is significantly better, but is $100+, and is hard to find. Many of the cheaper alternative products, like floor to doorknob braces or bottom wedges - are next to useless. There are much more elaborate and expensive alternatives that can be better, but the Nightlock is certainly viable. Any door security, must start with a strong door. If your door is weak, no add-on will be very secure. More info at: nightlock.com

Nightlock provides excellent security.
Excellent addition to my home security. After watching videos on YouTube realized what a false sense of protection simple lock and deadbolt is. Installation was easy. Just be sure to use a big, long Phillips screwdriver ( I used a 10 inch one, #4 head I think) with a broad screw head. It takes a lot of torque to get the screws through linoleum and wood, even with drilling point holes. Too small a screwdriver head wise and you the risk of stripping the screw heads. I came close. Also, since installing in the dead of winter, left about 1/8 of an inch between night guard and door to allow for heat expansion of the door in hot summer. it's very secure in the floor. Make sure everyone in the house knows how to remove it in case of fire. it'll take an awful lot of repeated kicking or bashing to make my outside doors completely fail. Will buy precious time to introduce the intruder to Mr. Mossberg.
