Sunex 5692 1-Inch Drive Fractional SAE 3/4-Inch to 2-Inch Impact Socket Set, 21 piece

First off, it’s hard to find a set of sockets that have every fractional size. This set does. So, it and the price, are exactly the reason I bought it. I work a service truck for a living. Working on heavy equipment. So I have to have the odd ball sockets from time to time. This set has every size from 3/4” all the way to 2”. If I had to whine about one thing about the sockets, it would be that they don’t go to 2-1/2”. That said, I like the sockets just fine. And Sunex is a very trusted name in the tool world. Now for the bad news. The carrying case is absurdly huge. It’s even got wheels on it to roll it around. Which would be awesome, I suppose, IF you work in a shop and have ample room to store it and keep it locked up in a closet or something. When I say huge, I mean it. It is a very nice blow molded case with nice steel laches, but in a truck I had to take the sockets out and store them in a drawer. The case measures 33”L x 16-1/2”W x 6” D. The tiny drawer I put the sockets in measures 15-1/2”L x 8-1/4”W x 4-1/2”D. And the drawer could have only needed to be 2-1/2” deep to fit them fine. If you look at the pictures you can see the vast amount of wasted space. Also, for reference of the size, notice the full size milk crate right behind it. So if you want a nice case for some sockets let me know! It’s fixing to go on the burn pile! I hate that because it’s a really nice case, but I have no use for it. I don’t know who thought it was a good idea to make the case the size of a suit case! He should be fired!

I am happy with the set. I had to make a tray for them because the blow molded case they came in it is ridiculously big.

These were my newest addition to the tool arsenal and just like with all of my other Sunex socket sets, I’m extremely pleased with them. Very well made and years of service to rely on.

PROS: The machining on the sockets is immaculate. Sizes are etched on one side and stamped on the other. Plastic case has a spot for each socket and with easy to read sizes (See photo).CONS: Plastic case is huge 17.5" wide x 33.5" long x 6" tall with a huge amount of dead space (See photo). The case could be 1/2 to 1/3 this size and actually fit in a tool box or service body.
