They work great!
Used to set posts for a banister. Banister beside Sheetrock didn’t have a stud to hook into. Worked great for sturdiness & the plugs stained beautifully to match the post. Arrived super quick which was a great help to finish so no one fell over on the steps. Highly recommend!!

Great way to firmly secure newel posts. Installation difficulty can vary based on skill
These were a great addition to our new railing install. They hold these newel post much more secure then standard mounting brackets and don't require any additional brackets or trim. We used much wider newel post in this new install, and didn't want to or have adequate room to add additional mounting brackets.Installation for me went very smoothly, but I can see issues arising if you have little experience with wood working. Only difficulty I had was one of the pre-drilled holes for the lag portion was a little short so the last few threads were difficult to turn, but it still went together well, and secure. For ease in installation I highly recommend using a drill guide to ensure you are drilling perpendicular to the post, this will ensure the bolt and fastener will line up properly. The included picture shows it with the one plug installed but not yet stained.
