Seems to be okay, wish it came in black
I use this on my Goruck GR2 and it seems to work relatively okay. It doesn't hold the bottles all that solid, but good enough to work for me. Works better with "fat" bottles, e.g. 1L Nalgene, but have used it with narrower ones as well. One wish: make it black. It looks really weird on my black backpack ...

Overall pleased, cut corners on molle webbing
Overall it's a nice wolf gray water bottle pouch, and the cording is well-made. Unfortunately, the webbing has a central divider only ever-other webbing. This makes it slightly less secure when you secure it, however the webbing you attach it to should have dividers, which largely negates the issue. Also the molle straps are a bit wide set and thin, which might have been helpful on something that is three columns wide, but isn't necessary for two-column molle attachments. I'm overall satisfied with the purchase, but for the price you'd hope they made the molle fit better.

Great addition to my GoRuck GR1
Great addition to my GoRuck so I can put my water bottle on the outside of the bag. Being it lays so flat, it's very inconspicuous when it's not in use. When it is in use, works well and holds even the largest water bottle securely. Highly recommended.

Improvement Needed. Unreliable.
Immediately after mounting this pouch to my pack I noticed two areas for improvement. I like my Nalgene to be very snug. However, if you keep the holder adjusted down, the bottom snaps release from the MOLLE straps when shoving the bottle inside. Being that the straps are flimsy and light, the entire unit could fall from your back without noticing. The second issue is with the squeeze tensioner thingy mabobber. Again, I like the security of my bottle being snug with little chance of it falling out on a steep climb/decent. It doesn't allow for much tension before the elastic slides through. This is very surprising to me, as Maxpedition nailed it with the Velcro loop to prevent molle straps from releasing and inexpensive no-name spring thingy mabobbers have much more strength. Unfortunately, I've found the second Vanquest product I don't like, other being the FATPack Gen 1 (which they've mastered with the gen 2 by the way).On to the good! Awesomely light, low profile when empty, and good quality material. Doesn't feel like it's going to tear or fall apart. Looks nice (for those who want to look awesome while hydrating). Price point is good in comparison to other manufacturer's bottle holders, it's lighter, and will probably serve it's purpose. I'll mod the unit to make it more secure and update if there are any issues.

Agree With All the Other Positive Reviews
Yup, it's great. Love that it can flatten down when not in use; love that it's low profile and lightweight; love that it can adjust to different size bottles (or some other object); love that it can attach to a belt or use molle, and at the same time it's not too bulky to just throw in a bag if you're in a hurry and need to grab and go. If you're pinching every ounce, this is your water carrier. It even works really well for those kidney bean shaped military-style canteens - even including the canteen's own insulating cover! It's got one job: to securely strap a thing of reasonable size to your person. It doesn't have other pockets to hold stuff, it doesn't have elaborate straps that dangle around or make noise. It doesn't have any kind of shoulder strap, but it would be easy enough to fashion something to it. I haven't used it in the field yet, but it appears to be durable enough. For the price it can't be beat. I'll probably get another. The ooooonly thing I would caution is that if you have a nice titanium bottle that you want a little more protected from dents, you might want something that provides full coverage. That's getting pretty picky, as this holder still covers the 20-ish oz. bottles pretty well and most likely you're not gonna be just wantonly slinging it around on rocks and stuff, but those titanium bottles can get super pricey. So that's your call.

Great Water Bottle/Mug Holder for GoRuck Packs
I purchased the Vanquest Hydra Bottle Holder after seeing it in a Carryology feature on optimizing the GoRuck GR1. I had recently purchased a GR1 and wanted to add a water bottle holder of some kind.Pros:-The Hydra collapses almost flat when not in use. I initially mounted it to the MOLLE on the side of GR1, but I was disappointed by how a nalgene strapped to the side ruined the streamlined look of the bag. I was also frustrated at how often I slammed the bottle on doorways. So I decided to move the Hydra to the internal MOLLE, as demonstrated in the Carryology feature. This was a great decision, as my bag still looks sleek, and when I'm not carrying a water bottle or mug, the Hydra takes up very little internal space.-The front of the Hydra features MOLLE-like cutouts. I didn't previously have anything mounted to the internal MOLLE where I placed the Hydra. But even if I had a pouch or small panel, it's possible to mount a "single row" MOLLE accessory directly to the front of the Hydra.-Adjustable toggle on the shock cord accommodates a wide variety of containers. I have used the Hydra to hold everything from a 32 oz Nalgene to a 16 oz Contigo Autoseal.Cons: NoneVerdict: I was looking for a flexible, useful water bottle holder for the GR1 and this is it. Mounted internally or externally, it securely holds a variety of containers.

Versatile
At first glance this might seem to be an expensive pouch but it is made of some of the finest toughest materials it has many possibilities far beyond that of just a water bottle holder I've also found that it matches maxpeditions new line of packs perfectly

Great bottle holder
The perfect bottle pouch for my GR1. Lays flat when not in use and expands to hold small plastic bottles up to my 40oz Klein canteen. Well made and shipped fast.

Parfait
