Thomas & Friends Motorized Toy Train Crystal Caves Thomas Battery-Powered Engine with Cargo for Preschool Pretend Play Kids Ages 3+ Years

Fun little motorized engine set, meant for trackmaster but it does fit on wooden tracks but can’t get traction to go up wooden track pieces that go up (have elevation). The purple crystal pops on and off the cart, and works with other carts with a similar pop on spot in the Thomas line. The cart with sand insert was a bit of a large size, other carts in the Thomas track mast line are not able to hold it. We had gotten the Crystal mine trackmaster set and the “Crystal mine cart filling pieces” are smaller, so they fit in the sand cart but the sand piece won’t fit in the crystal carts. Not a big deal. Motorized Thomas is pretty sturdy it survived a 40lb toddler stepping on it a few times and falling off the tracks from a 3 foot height a bunch of times. Fun desert and mining themed addition.

I love this little train. I especially love that it fits on the foldable Melissa and Doug train set.-PERFECT.SLIGHT PROBLEM.- although it is cool that the dirt and crystal come off-it's kind of counterintuitive since it's a battery train so you're not really meant to be playing with the merchandise...My toddler gets quite frustrated because he wants to take the dirt and crystal off constantly but also wants the train to go, and he can't quite fully operate the switch. and it's a little to fast for him to do while it's moving...sooo maybe save the removable stuff for the non battery toys, and let the battery toys work for themselves- maybe instead you could make the crystal light up instead of removable.anyways that's just my 2 cents.it's a nice toy.

Updating to add:This train works great on Fisher Price tracks. We didn't have that kind until recently, so I didn't realize those are the tracks it's meant for. I updated my rating from 3 to 5 stars since the initial review was based off of using it on a different brand of Thomas tracks.Original review:There is a reason this train is so affordable compared to the other Thomas trains. It doesn't work well. It gets stuck at almost every connection point in the tracks. You can give it tap and it will go but it just gets stuck again. I think the issue is that the front wheels are too big and the power is coming from the back wheels. When the front wheels hit a place where the track pieces connect the back wheels lift up off the track and there is no traction, so the train gets stuck. It frustrates my 3yo but he's already played with the train so I'm not going to take it away from him to return it.

If you have a little one who loves trains, these motorized Thomas and Friends are great. I like these better versus the classic wooden trains. They are cheaper, larger, and don't have the magnets to worry about. They do require batteries and do NOT fit well on a standard wooden track. I would recommend purchasing the tracks that go to the motorized trains.

Easy to put batteries in and fun for a child

My grandson is obsessed with Thomas & his pals and the loopty-loop track...but the battery life is so short! Like they start to run down the same day. Dies anyone else have this problem?!

A fun 3 pack! Thomas has lots of nice dirt and plant detail, as if he's been tumbling around the mines, and his new hopper car has a fun removable rock load that can fit in other cars!The Crystal car is by far the highlight of the set. It's so pretty in person, but it does look more pink than in the product images.Highly recommend this fun pack for any little engineers

My son was gifted a Thomas & Friends Zip, Zoom & Logging Adventure train track for his 3rd birthday anniversary (July 2023), so we just needed to get him a train set.1. Train is as pictured2. Works perfectly, on and off the tracks3. There is an on/off lever4. Battery operatedCons1. There is no sound. My son was super excited but the sound of a horn (or something) would have made him hit the roof.2. Also wished the train was rechargeable.In the end, it was about him and not me - my son loves the train set. So I would recommend it.
