The Queens are too small compared to the Kings, then the Bishop is just barely taller than the Knights and the Rooks and Pawns are kind of short and tubby. The material is very good though with a night finish.

These pieces are exactly what I was looking for to reward myself. Beautifully proportioned and carved in classic style, with no “creative” touches or overly fussy, fragile details. The combination of weight and finish invite you to hold the major pieces in the palm of your hand, instead of your fingertips, and that just feels like the way the game should be.

Exactly what I expected from the House of Staunton. Great craftsmanship, classic and perfectly executed. Not a traveling set, but a beautiful addition to the home.

The Amazon web page description states that the King is a 4 inch chess pieces. The House of Stanton king delivered is 3.25 inches in actual size and the carton the pieces are delivered is labeled as 3.25" for the King. The description is NOT as labeled in the Amazon description on the Amazon web portal for the shipper House of Stanton.

Rook has 6 notches, the bishops are voluptuous, the Queen's crown is beautifully crafted, the King's cross is detailed, and the felts at the bottom are not cheapgreat weight and nice finishthe horsey looks good too

The chess set is wonderful, nice size, great feel, weighted prices with felt bottoms for smooth movement, I am really happy with them
