Warming and 'feel good' book
Lovely. Illustrations are great, 'string' concept is awesome and 6 year old loves it. Very warming and reaffirming for young emotions and adults alike.

Delightful
Thank You for the Little Things is a delightful little book which radiates warmth and love. I always wonder what pressure an established author must feel when they release a new title. However, when it comes to Caryl it really feels like there is no end to her talent and versatility. It's funny that this is a book that resonates so much with me. If I am ever feeling overwhelmed with situations in life I find it grounding and soothing to be able to look around me and appreciate the little wonders in our world. It's something I learnt from my Nan who was never into the grand, it was always the little things that mattered to her. Thank You for the Little Things feels like my Nan's story. The main character goes through the day finding the small wonders that make her smile if she's feeling blue. I think this is such a wonderful way to explore ways that children can help themselves to regulate their emotions. To me it's a very 'mindful' way of thinking in a practical way that we can all understand.I would certainly couple it with good communication for children to be able to talk about how they feel and be able to discuss any issues that they may be facing.I really love the fact that the main character isn't assigned a gender and it can be left up to interpretation. I love everything about the illustrations and my daughter was really drawn to them and enjoyed spotting lots of different elements on each spread.Thank you #NetGalley and #Bloomsbury for eARC

A stunning picture book with a brilliant message for young children.
This has to be my favourite picture book of the year so far! I love everything about it: the gorgeous rhyming text, the beautiful illustrations and the wonderful message that teaches children to look around them and appreciate all the small things that can make them happy! In the story the little girl is finding 'little things' that make her happy and smile. When she's feeling anxious, worried or unhappy she thinks about some of these things to help her overcome these feelings. My son's favourite part was -'Thank you noodles, you're so yummy:hot and spicy in my tummy.'He laughs everytime we read this!My favourite part was -'Thank you milky bedtime drinkand snuggly blanket, white and pink.Thank you book - because of YOUI'll have adventures ALL night through.'I love this description of sharing a book and all the creativity that can be sparked by sharing stories together. What little things make you feel happy? For me, it is definitely a lovely sunny day, reading a book and chocolate (oh and spending time with my lovely family of course!) Immediately after reading this book my three year old son said 'the thing that makes me happy is my neepy (penguin) and blanket! This book would be the perfect addition to an early years classroom. I can picture all of the wonderful discussions that would come out whilst sharing it. It is already a favourite bedtime story in our house.
