Magical
I bought the Brian Froud book World of Faerie. Brian Froud is the conceptual designer for Labyrinth. Anyway, the new book is really nice but most of the illustrations I recognize from older Brian Froud books so it's more of a compilation book. A few things to comment on.The Magician: Beautiful painting very similar to Jareth of Labyrinth. I didn't realize the character of The magician was supposed to be female, I had seen the painting before and thought it was male. It's supposed to be Alice from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland grown up. That's why she's wearing striped tights. The Faery Queen on the cover looks a great deal like Jareth. Perhaps his mother? In the book there's one illustration of a water fall where the water comes out of a rock formation in the shape of a nose which is very much identical to an illustration in Return to Labyrinth Volume 1 of Hoggle's home as The Prince of the land of Stench. One image is obviously based off the other. The Brain Froud one, of course, is better quality. At the end of the book is a hidden compartment containing a poster of a poem by Neil Gaiman with illustrations by Brian Froud. Neil Gaiman is the writer of MirrorMask and Stardust. He's also the man who found the three hours of lost Labyrinth footage, small parts of which are on the new two disc version of Labyrinth. I found the poem to be a pleasant surprise. In total it's a very nice book.

The book is beautifully constructed and filled with masterful paintings and sketches
Just like other books published by Insight Editions, there are also several little booklets pasted onto the pages. At the end of the book in an envelope is a poster of a poem by Neil Gaiman. He paints as if he's beside the faeries themselves. His commentary introduces us to the world and secrets of faeries, showing us the many disguises and types of faeries. He even has his own interpretation for classic stories like Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan.There are not just faeries but other mysterious creatures like unicorns, trolls, green women and phyllomantic men. Phyllomancy is the art of divination by listening to the rustling of leaves. Interesting details like such accompany the paintings. This is a nice book for fantasy art lovers or fans of Brian Froud.

A beautiful and mysterious world revealed
The media could not be loaded. Brian Froud has illustrated several books on faeries but Brian Froud's World of Faerie is the most lavish art book yet.The book is beautifully constructed and filled with masterful paintings and sketches printed on low gloss paper. Just like other books published by Insight Editions, there are also several little booklets pasted onto the pages. At the end of the book in an envelope is a poster of a poem by Neil Gaiman. He paints as if he's beside the faeries themselves. Brian Froud never disappoints.
"Brian Froud's World of Faierie" overflows with the lovely, evocative drawings of his interactions with the world of Faierie for which he is know. It is also Brian's story of starting out and finding that world, of meeting with and getting to know faieries and working to share this in his art and books. This is a book to savor, over which to linger. A book to be leisurely enjoyed comfortable in your favorite chair along with a cup of fragrant tea and a cookie.

Wonderful artwork
I thoroughly enjoy Brian Froud’s fantastical artwork. Very well made, large book of artwork. Was first introduced to his artwork via The Dark Crystal. If you’re a fan, it’s worth picking up a copy.

Stunning!
After just getting faeries tales I was hungry for more. I just went for it! So what I LOVE about this book is that where in faeries it's more about the different types of fae, this has that but it more takes you on the artists journey through faerie. The thing is, it became my journey as I read and my heart was filled. It may become yours too! The art is as always, beautiful.

This Collection is Incredible!
If you've ever been a fan of Brian Froud's work, this artbook is jam-packed with wonder and delight. Page after page, you become enfolded into the magic of his imaginative designs, which was surely fueled by the love of his family and the love of his craft. The Frouds, all three of them as a family, are responsible for inspiring the spark of wonder within everyone who has ever admired their collective work.

A must for Froud fans!
If you like Brian Froud, this is a must for your collection. Here we have a welcome return to the magical lands that only Froud has the gifts to take us to. The production values of this edition are first rate, the colours are rich and the subject matter alone justifies the oversized format. The added mini-books within the book are a special surprise, showing just how individual and innovative volumes of this genre can be. If you have been following Froud's work for some years (like I have) you may notice some of his earlier works from other publishers reprinted here, personally I don't mind, this collection is of higher quality and should hold up better over time. So sit back, grab a nice cup of tea and visit or revisit the dark and dangerous and sometimes silly Lands of Faerie, brought to you by the man who sees it best.

Beautiful Book
I'm so glad I read reviews before purchasing, because the version I wanted was the original, not the new edition. I ordered the second hand from the 2008 print run and it doesn't disappoint. Brian Froud's art is rich and timeless, and always puts me in a mystical mood. Definitely recommend, and I wish the publisher would revise the new edition and use the little books-within-the-book and fold outs that make this as entertaining and kinetic as it is.

♡♡♡♡♡♡
Non il libro che mi aspettavo...ma molto meglio! Adoro l'arte di Brian Froud da quando ero più piccola! Il libro è più grande e pesante di quanto mi aspettassi! Pagine dannatamente belle e poster in regalo!
