Q: How does it work (dispense treats)?

It dispenses treats by being rolled around. There’s a screw on cap at the top that allows you to put your treats into the container and a adjustable opening near the bottom that allows an amount of treats to be released when the container is rotated (the more open the hole is, the larger the amount of treats come out). I would recommend using small treats (like pellets) for this as larger ones can get stuck or may not come out of the container at all.

Q: I have treatball that gets roled into corners and abandoned or picked up and thrown. Can this easily happen with this?

I have a 5ish pound mini lop and he can't pick this up. It has a heavy bottom like those baby wobble toys. He has to use his nose and push it around to make the food come out of the hole. There's really not anything that he could grab ahold of to pick it up. I assume anything can get to a corner and abandoned tho, that just depends on ur rabbit. I have two rabbits, one loves this and the other can't figure it out lol

Q: Would this be okay for rats?

I think it would be ok for a rat to use. My 5 lb bunny uses it. He just tips it over and the pellets fall out. I would think a rat could tip it over
