Fun activities for girls
The media could not be loaded. This book is full of so many fun activities for my girls. They are so excited to continue learning through all of these projects. The book has lots of different options for them to learn about and provides the information in a fun new way. I do not have to be a part of the activity for them to do it at their ages (11 and 13). I do however find it fun to watch them enjoy the new project as they explore and see what will happen!

Summer fun activities
Ordered for my granddaughter. Both she and her mother were thrilled. Her mother said she thinks her son will enjoy also.

A nice compilation of STEM activities
I like this book. I did get it for a seven year old boy, but he seemed to accept that it was a science book for everyone without giving me too much side-eye.We haven’t done all of the activities in the book--there is a whole lot there, but I used to be a science teacher and many of them are familiar. There were only a couple where I had my doubts and unfortunately the first activity was one of them. Making a Newton’s cradle out of bouncy balls seems interesting but pushing a needle through a bouncy ball seems extremely difficult and a good way to accidentally stab yourself into the palm. To be fair I have not tried this activity, so maybe it would work fine. If I do, I will update the review. However there are around 40 activities in the book and most of them are very good. There is also a good range of things that are quite easy and fast to things that would take more effort/materials.

So awesome
I love this book for the most part! I love that it is aimed at girls, though it can be used for anyone. I love the variety of stem crafts it has inside. I do wish there was more of an explanation of the science behind some of the crafts because it would make it more educational. There is a lot of fun to be had in the pages of this book if you aren’t concerned about the why of how some of them work. I do want to say, some of the experiments and crafts do provide a little info about what is happening, but I wish it went a little deeper.

Colorful book with fun activities for kids ages 6-12
The Adventure Girls! STEM Crafts: 40 Activities for Curious, Creative, Courageous Girls is a colorful paperback book full of crafts for kids ages 6-12. The crafts range from very easy to more complex, but all seemed doable for kids. Younger kids would need help from a parent, but older kids could handle these crafts on their own (but it's more fun to make it a group activity right?) Most of the projects used basic items the average kid might already have around the house (cardboard, markers, crayons, tape, string, etc.), but a few of the projects do require items that might have to be purchased specifically for the crafts. The "Homemade Telescope" for example needs a convex magnifying lens as well as a magnifying glass with handle. Even skipping the projects that need less common items leaves a lot of activities to try. Scattered throughout the book are short introductions of woman who have become successful in their respective fields and at the back of the book is a list of "10 women in STEM through history". While this book is targeted to girls as a way to get them interested in STEM fields (which is needed), boys would also enjoy and benefit from these activities. A fun book!

Activities are fun
I got this to try and limit screen time with an appealing alternative. My stepdaughter loves different craft and I got this to help her get into STEM. She started to ask if she could pick one out to do without me bringing it up.

Great for all kids, not just girls
I do appreciate the target audience being girls, but boys would enjoy this book as well. My 7 yo niece is an science-fanatic, so she was thrilled to receive this book. She had already tried a few of the experiments presented in this book but she is always happy to do experiments more than once, and I suspect other kids will feel the same. Most of the necessary items are likely to already be found around the house so no need for parents to make special trips to the store in order to perform the craft. This book offers a great way to teach and entertain kids and pulls them away from the draw of the almighty screen for awhile. Would recommend.

Book to encourage girls to pursue science
I like the goal of this book to encourage girls to pursue and understand math and science through crafting projects that involve simple materials. I really liked that there were examples of accomplished women scientists scattered throughout the book. There are short paragraphs at the end of the book for many female scientists but I found those to be a bit too brief and not always easy to fully understand the women’s accomplishments. Some of the crafts were easy to understand in pictures and written instructions but others to me had too many steps and would be more easily explained in a video.I think that with the aid of an adult a child would understand how to make these crafts. This book mostly focuses on the what and how of the crafts. It makes some introductory statements about scientific concepts but then doesn’t summarize the “why” after describing how to build the crafts but I believe that the goal of the author is for the children to develop observational skills.I think that depending upon the age of a child that summarizing the concept of the crafting project would be beneficial.
