It is not an exhaustive book but still very thorough
Very thorough book. It is not an exhaustive book on the subject but Covers quite a bit about most things you need to know. It has drawings and how to information. Not sorry I purchased it at all. I would gift it to someone interested in such things.

Great addition to your outdoor titles.
Absolutely love it. Extremely informative and small enough to take with you. Teaches you skills that can come in handy in a survival situation or when your camping, hiking, or just hanging out in the woods having fun.

Not for the faint of heart
If your looking for a survival manual to make it through a few nights lost in the woods look elsewhere. But if you are a serious outdoor enthusiast this book covers just about every skill you will need to live in the wild. Most will require some practice, trial and error, and patience to develop to the point of being effective. Illustration are rough but get the job done and are accompanied by very detailed descriptions. The most important tool for any survival and wilderness situation is your own mind. This book will give you the skills necessary to hone that tool.

Good, but some need a little more description
Good book. Lots of illustrations, but please consider that they are sketches. For instance making many of the traps and ropes will take some practice and some careful observation of sketches to understand. I would say page through the book, and for the more complicated stuff watch a few YouTube videos in conjunction with the sketches to get a good grasp on these. Keep in mind that some of the things are difficult to sketch.

Best book on Bushcraft and Survival
The book that started the Bushcraft craze!! I absolutely love this book and it's my personal favorite amongst all that I own on the subject. I know there is many books in this category but Richard Graves not only coined the term Bushcraft but set the standard in which a book should be written. Highly detailed with many in-depth pictures, well written and easy to understand. There is only a few books that compare and that would be Ray mears Bushcraft and Mors Bushcraft all the others are just garbage in comparison

Loved it then and I love the updates in the ...
I have a much older pocket version of this that I bought as a teen. Loved it then and I love the updates in the this one. Just wish it was pocket sized.

Not impressed
I haven't gone through it all yet, but it appears to be information copied direct from his "Bushcraft Handbooks" which are really just over-priced pamphlets. In some places it appears as though it was scanned/photocopied direct from the handbooks since some of the text/drawing edges are cut off. There is some good basic information on a number of subjects, but the drawings are crude and most details are left for you to figure out on your own through trial and error. It would make a good gift to an interested young scout.

I learned alot from this book
To be honest I bought this (for my Kindle Fire) because I own the knife that is on the cover (Gerber Freeman Hunter). The book has 10 chapters and it is very informative. Chapters 5 & 6 (Fire making/Knots and lashing) are particularly good. It's written in easy to understand (if you are AUSTRALIAN) language. I believe it was written in 1972 but nonetheless, it is a very good read. I enjoyed reading it...it was hard to put down. A good classic IMHO.

Lots of information but some illustrations are hard to interpret
This book is a must have for those interested in bushcraft and survival! There is lots of useful information, the only shortfall are the illustrations because they are hand-drawn they can be hard to interpret at times but the principals behind the illustrations can be found in the text. Overall a great book for those interested in the topic.

Great book for bushcraft skills
I bought the paperback version so that I could see any illustrations etc. The book is really informative and the diagrams are generally pretty good, though they clearly haven't been updated since 1972 when the book was first published, and they could do with an update. Having said that, I'm really glad I bought the book as it is really useful for bushcraft skills.
