Captivating
I like how different themes like politics, freedom, death, time, and ideas interplay among the different characters. I have read both the novels in this series, and they are really good, atleast for me. I would like to see more of this world, about builders, the select and geography of the world they are staying at.It's worth your read.

Lost the potential of the series
I loved how the first book in this series 'The Wall', in its own intricately well thought world, started analysing some important contemporary issues in Asian and also communist politics round the world and how the popular Myths and mishandled, misinterpreted and propaganda histories add the power to the tyrants to reinforce their atrocities. While reading the first book, it may not really entirely lead into that politics, how the tyrant control of wall, its use by Elders and Shoortans to exercise power and exploitation are overthrown, we are atleast given some powerful thoughts into mechanisms and process that work and establish such tyranny and exploitation. So even though Book1 in this series is not completely satisfying in its providing solutions or even analysing the social question we feel good with th chewy material in it hoping Book2 'The Horizon' will expand and atleast could suggest on such social and cultural questions. Though this Book2 'The Horizon' too throws some thoughtful insights into humanity and advancement etc, But this book totally lost the potential of analysing social side of the Sumer society and completely turned out to be a cheap popcorn sci-fi thriller, some how reducing the target of series story to crossing the wall than crossing the cycle of manipulation and self destruction of human society and scientific advancement. I wouldnt have minded reading a book purely for its sci-fi thriller element but it should be sold only on those terms not as sequel to beautiful book 'The wall' which looked like going in the better t=direction than just sci-fi thriller
