Motor can reach speeds as high as 6000 rpm. However it cannot reach a speed it started out as. The motor and controller are single speed. Not overly thrilled with it not having a variable output power supply like I have for my engraver. I bought this for my wife as an anniversary gift and we set it up last night and cut the bottom off a wine bottle. There is no means of securing the coolant line to the housing.As far as first cut went it was my first in about 40 years and my wife was a first timer. The settings were made to fit the bottle cut height and depth of etch. Turned on switch and then started slow IV drip of the coolant. Single pass achieved in forty six seconds. Second pass cut to cut to scheduled depth then made second pass. Used small butane torch to heat the etching then dip in ice water. Figure out I had gotten it hot enough so I dried it off and hit it with the torch again gently and then it happened. The bottle broke precisely on the etched line. Finished off with emery and she was ecstatic when she saw it cut like it did. It was the bestest anniversary gift she ever got from me. So much for diamonds and jewelry and new car. To think I could have saved tens of thousands by getting this for her thirty two years ago.This setup will do what it claims just be patient and read the instructions. Plus go on YouTube and look up videos of bottle cutting.Awe Beck I'll give up the fifth star.

***UPDATE*** We actually used the bottle cutter and tried it out this past weekend. Honestly we were really impressed on how well it cut. I was just slightly disappointed because there were no rubber rings to use to secure where the cutter was going to cut the bottle, like said it was included. In conclusion we canceled the return and plan on doing a lot more bottle cutting!!We had ordered this electric bottle cutter to start doing some crafting. We were so excited when it had arrived yesterday. However, after opening the actual box of the bottle cutter; we were baffled on the appearance of it. It was like someone used it once or even twice and then returned it and shoved it back into the box! Nothing was properly wrapped up in bubble wrap and/or properly packaged. I looked at it, took a picture of it and submitted a request to send back. Is this seriously how things get packaged now??

Don’t buy this-!!!!!! Trust me parts are missing and looks used by the wrapping. It said it was made in the USA and not true… it’s China made! I’m only giving it one star in order to submit my review!! Very disappointed round two. This was my girlfriends birthday gift and twice it’s a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!

The cutter is very light weight broke after one use. Would not recommend

Especially if it's for someone's bottle of wine or champagne 🍾 for a very special occasion, such as a wedding 💒 or anniversary or birthday milestone or engagement or job promotion or whatever the case may be.Now they can have a vase I've also painted or etched to commemorate their occasion.Very cool.
