The Road (The Road to Hell Series, Book 3)

Skelleins, tree nymphs, who knew!!
Did I think that when I added this series to my want to read list a few months ago, (hesitantly sad to say) that it would wind up being one of the best PNR series I’ve ever read? NOPE! Book after book, The Road to Hell series has continued to shock the “Hell” out of me!!!After the end of Carved, we knew it was only a matter of time before River was going to have to go into Hell. Whether it is was because she wasn’t able to close the gateway and her and Kobal and the others would have to go in, or if someone or something forced her in. Brenda has taken being detailed to a whole other plane throughout this entire series, but especially in The Road! I have never read about so many different types of demons and the different abilities they possess. As well as Hell itself! From the rocks to the trees and even the ground they walk on, she does such a good job that you can see it and picture it so clearly! Because Brenda is so awesome at this I knew we were going to see some crazy stuff in Hell, and boy did we! The demons that we see in The Road make all the other ones we’ve seen in the prior two books look like tiny fluffy bunnies.I have to say that I am OBSESSED with the Skelleins!!! I love those boney little dudes with their beer drinking riddle loving selfs!! I was so happy that they had a part in River’s journey. The side characters continue to be amazing and so well developed in this series. I love how we get to dive deeper into River and Hawk’s friendship as well as Corson Bale’s friendship in this story. You can see that the respect and loyalty they all have for River has grown into something so much deeper. And I’m pretty sure I’m stating the obvious here, but Kobal and River continue to set pages on fire!! It doesn’t seem like it’s possible but their connection and chemistry continue to grow, and I’m loving every second of it! There is a scene between them in here that is one of the best scenes I’ve ever read in ANY book, and I can guarantee I won’t ever be forgetting! Even though it’s going to break my heart to see this story come to an end, I can’t wait to see how it all comes together!!

Great sequel!
Some questions were answered, and the relationship between Kobal and River continues apace. We have some new characters, and even though Kobal and River may not like Magnus very much, I find him fascinating, and I’m hoping to see more of him in the next book. This book, like the others in the series, is not a standalone. It does advance the story quite a bit, and we get some backstory that we didn’t know previously. I highly recommend it!

Very well thought, interesting
The good thing about this book is that it's intriguing. You have to finish it because you're dying to know what happens. River is a likeable character. Kobal is okay as a character. The secondary characters are very likeable and really raise the interest and story. The thing though is that half of the book is explaining things to us through the characters almost in a way of reading an article on wikipedia. A lot of information. And sometimes there's so much explained about hell or demons that you just want to move on from that. For the story's shortcomings, the writing, the plot, the setting, the characters and the suspense make up for it. I'm not a fan of the back and forth first person story telling, but in this series, with these characters and with the pacing and the way its written, it's actually enjoyable. I really like the powers River have. I like the post-war setting, and I think the way that it went to bring the supernatural fantasy element to it was smart. Not sure if this would be re-readable to me, but I've been breezing through these books, eager to see how it ends, which is always a great thing.

And the battle begins...
I am so over Kobal's rigid c**k and River's soaked sheath. Since you get a detailed vision of their sex life every 3-5 pages, I find myself skipping ahead a lot to get to the other storyline which is rich in detail, provides an interesting view of hell, and is an excellent plot which is why I gave it 5 stars. If non-stop sex is your preference then it definitely gets a 5 for that!

I LOVE this series!
I have read many paranormal romance books and I have to say, this one is at the top of my list. It’s such a beautiful love story with lots of steamy sex scenes and heart warming moments in the midst of all the chaos. Only second to Christine Feehans Dark Carpatian series. I just wish this series was larger than just 4 books.. with the love stories of the other demons finding their Chosen also like the Bale or the lovable Corson or Hawk. Then again nothing can top the epic love story of Kobal and River. Can’t wait to see what else Brenda Davies has created after I finish the last book.

Still good, but a little lackluster.
I realize their are four books in this series which may have just made this one longer than it needed to be. Although I also realize this book really focuses on the world building and on River really getting into her powers, but it was a bit boring. Some spots in the book were good, tons of spice. Love Kobal and all of his power and possessiveness. I also think my favorite side character is either Hawk or Corson. Just saying. Onto the last one.

Amazing and Original Paranormal Series!
This paranormal series has it all! Lots of action, romance, passion, an intriguing, original and well written story that will have you invested until the vey last page! Loved both main characters Kobal and River. Their connection is well developed and full of passion and adventure. The second characters are also incredible. One of the best paranormal series I have read. Highly recommended :-)

Kobal + River
Did I know how much I would fall in love with this series when I happened to one-click the first book, Good Intentions? Nope. But fall in love I did. I couldn't help but helplessly fall for the plot, the world building, the main characters, all of the side characters, even the ones I'm supposed to hate, and everything in between. Kobal and River brought the fight for Hell alive for me and I could virtually smell the fire and brimstone and see the sparks from her fingers and the fire encompassing his. Alone they could definitely fight to the bitter end, but together I can't help but feel they'll actually win."We are each trying to find our own way in the world. Some have no idea who or what they are yet, but you will find out soon enough."While this story had plenty of action, and I do mean blood and guts and magic and pain and gashes and death, I was suprised by how much love was felt even during the worst of times. There was love amongst the allies, who time and time again showed their loyalty and affection for the King and Queen of Hell. There was love between the friends and I had quite a laugh at their banter. And the love between Kobal and River... well, that just goes without saying. No one could ever make me feel as small as he did, yet so incredibly powerful and cherished at the same time.Kobal may be fictional as hell (see what I did there?), but he's earned his rightful place in my harem. Here's a man who never dreamed of finding his chosen. He lived a hard life, full of battles and glory, and was used to getting his way. Then he finds his Chosen, who happens to be a mortal girl, who also happens to be the descendant of his nemesis, and she is nothing like he expected. However, he's learned to care about humans, even if it was only to pacify her at first. He's protective and considerate and kind and thoughtful and giving and fierce and sexy and gosh I want my very own Kobal."Never doubt my love, River. You started as the possible key to all of this, but you are my Chosen. I would choose you over all else, even my own life."The group has definitely weakened Lucifer's force, but the fight is far from over. I'm off to read Into Hell, to see my babes kick Lucy's sick butt!

The Road (The Road to Hell Series, Book 3)
The Road (The Road to Hell Series, Book 3)Just finished reading this series this week & have loved it! I’ve now also just finished the first book in the ‘Hell on Earth’ series that follows on from it too & look forward to more of those in the future 😊. I’ve been a fan of Brenda K Davies & her other pen name Erica Stevens for years now & will continue buying her books.

Just die Lucifer please
So much suspense in this third one. I wanted to skip to the end to see if Lucifer died. The amount of description and story weaving involved in this series is amazing. My realms of imagination are totally rethinking religious beliefs that's how good Brenda K Davies is. River and Kobal are a force to be reckoned with. Just gets better and better.

Fantastic
This series is fantastic. Very different from anything else I have read, and I absolutely love it. Brenda Davies is a very gifted writer and I can't wait to see where she takes this story next. Kobal and River are great characters but it is the characters on the periphery that really take this story to the next level. Corson and Hawk and Erin and Vargas, Shax, Verin, and Magnus along with all of the other hell creatures give the story tremendous depth and loads of texture. So refreshingly different and creative, with no dull moments!
